La musique africaine traditionnelle, ça n'est pas que des sons mis les uns à la suite des autres pour "faire joli", " ou faire la preuve de sa virtuosité. Elle évoque des couleurs, des récits, des paysages. Elle exprime ce qu'il y a d’indicible dans l'expérience humaine. Elle parle à l'âme, elle transcende.

72 generations in that family of playing the kora. Such an amazing instrument from a gourd. All my family would have done is made pie. Makes one feel pretty damn insignificant.

I had the Honour of attending a workshop with Toumani at Womad festival in the UK over 20 years ago - we sat on the floor in front of him in a gymnasium in Reading Leisure Centre and watched him play and tell stories - a profound experience that changed my musical landscape forever

Djali, c'est le sang qui coule dans les veines de tout être vivant dont la vie. Et c'est cela le Maestro et le Prince sont en train de magnifier à travers le son de sa majesté la Kora qui comme un lien ombilical qui nous lie à notre existence. L'authenticité du son de cette harpe lute vous transporte dans un univers plein de merveilles.
