Wow that is insane ...aren't these homes prefabricated too (i.e. modular?!) Is land that expensive in Calgary? This is not an affordable home.

Prefabricated?! Nope. This home is a 2000 sq ft home in a really great location with a double car garage. The lots are smaller but the community amenities makes up for it. It’s a different concept - and like all new ideas, at first people don’t always get them.

LOL 730 k and the basement is a optional package? My buddy bought a house like this 10 years ago, for 400k in the NW. Just to give people a idea how silly the market is right now. The house is nice, but its not even close to worth that price. However you also have people from Toronto or Vancouver, they are selling there houses for 1-1.5 million, and buying in calgary. For them this is a steal of a deal, for middle income in Calgary? A rip off

Hi Darcy - I can definitely empathize - housing has definitely appreciated over the last few years. Calgary has basically stood on the sidelines of the housing boom the last 5 years. This boom drove prices in nearly every market across the nation - but not here. We are on average $1.25 M cheaper than Toronto and Vancouver for single family homes... That is how huge the difference is.

This cost maybe 420k at most. 730k is so inflated. At 30 year fixed, you will be paying total of $1,938,240.... almost 2 million dollar after 30 years!

730,000 for 1900 sq ft of gyprock and cheap MDF. never buy a house unl;ess you watched it all the way from excavation to completion.
