I think there's a thoughtful, reflective and dare I type it, sombre, melancholy solitary vibe to this courtyard garden. I like it, it PERFECTLY compliments the room that opens out to it. Intelligent, introspective, artistic, stable. This is a homeowner that really knows themselves, is driven by their own idiosyncratic tastes, with aesthetics that are so well integrated with their personality and intelligence and knows how to totally surround themselves with their fully realised style. I love the old and cozy. New,bright and wide open space is too impersonal. I'm transforming my backyard to be a cozy place to relax. No trampolines or playground sets. Just greenery, wood and stone.

I was fascinated with the 'green walls'; we did something similar where we lived once for privacy, with a double-sized trellis covered in vines. Were these espaliered cedars? I thought I heard the word 'cedars'. I'd love to know what they were. Such a beautiful, tranquil space; plus I fell in love with your studio.
