Hi! Welcome to my 24rth video posted on RU-vid :-)
This episode is illustrates the well-known Tour d’Ambin, which I did this summer 2022 with my girlfriend. I chose to dedicate it to my mother, who passed away recently, also in memory of the love for adventure that she taught me since I was a child.
Trek distance: 32 km
Positive difference in height: + 2.340 m
Negative difference in height: - 2.273 m
The Tour d'Ambin is aimed at users of high altitude hiking and mountaineering routes.
The cross-border itinerary winds through the passes and peaks of the Ambin Massif, a site strongly linked to the birth of mountaineering.
We found ourselves constantly between Italy and France and the beauty of the natural landscape was such that we were not in any hurry to complete it. Therefore, we have planned to do it with 5 nights out, to allow ourselves the time to fully experience the mountain.
1st day: departure from Col du Petit Mont-Cenis with overnight stay at the Ambin Refuge
2nd day: ascent to Col d'Ambin where the Walter Blais bivouac is located
3rd day: descent to the Levi Molinari refuge
4th day: ascent to the Vaccarone refuge
5th day: descent to the Hannibal bivouac
6th day: return to the Col du Petit Mont-Cenis
In this way I was able to capture a lot of material, both video and photographic. Some photographs in this video also belong to previous excursions of mine in this area, but a good 95% of the material is properly derived from this splendid trek.
Let's take back some time to be one with nature!! I’ts never enough :-)
Also, I believe strongly that the return to the essential is a return to the extent for which we appeared on this planet.
Everything else is a superstructure which, yes, can have advantages, but then always places a price to pay.
My name is Roberto Bertero, I am a photographer-musician from Turin. I have been exploring the Alps for as long as I can remember and since 15 years I am devoted to photograph the most significant moments, up there, in the high mountains!
I’ve opened this RU-vid channel, in order to document some of my adventures also through the video; a new experience for me, which I find very fascinating.
It goes without saying that the photographs I include in my videos are all available for sale on my website.
I usually hike alone, or sometimes in the company of my girlfriend. I believe that only in this way is it possible to hear the subtle intimate essence of certain places.
All places naturally speak to us, it is up to us to refine our ability to listen.
My aim is to share my alpine experiences lived at all hours and in all seasons.
So, through my works - which I hope will be more and more refined in capturing mountain's soul - you will see the Alps in all possible light conditions: twilight, dawn, daylight, sunset, blue hour, night… in the moonlight or beneath the magical mantle of the Milky Way.
Join me in this adventure! :-)

Molte grazie Riccardo.
