Hi GP, thank you so much for your content. You have inspired me at 53 to either spot or drive in a local rally. I appreciate your history lessons on the cars, tracks and drivers lives. I use your content as a bar to rise to. Thanks sir! 5 STARS! :)
Great content as always, Jake. I’m a big fan of your take on all that’s vintage (sim)racing. Keep ‘m comin’, it’s very entertaining. I hope to watch your next entry live.
@1:01:55 You can add visual cues, bro. Focusing on the track and driving is hard enough but translating jibba jabber into a visual image of the track is even harder. That is so hard about rallying, a demanding track with small margins of error, a jibba jabber co-pilot, and a race against time.
Tip for other viewers who are on non-widescreen monitors, if you use the picture-in-picture feature the video will still be in widescreen! Nice if you're watching while working!
Crashed out on the 4th stage on leg 1. Absolutely gutted. Overcooked a slow turn and stuffed the front of the car into a rock wall. I swear I'm going to get to the end of one of these SRM events one of these days.
I went with the intermediate tarmac tires on the Stratos. You definitely gapped me on the dry stages, although I made up some time on the wet. Even on the inters, the Lancia is so challenging to tame. You were still well ahead at the end of the 2nd leg. Then on the final stage of leg 2 the game crashed on me, and my whole rally was over. No super rally even, it just instantly retired me :(
Great videos keep them coming. I've been binging on RSF myself as well. Just wondering which pace notes you use? (and sorry if you mentioned it and I just skipped that part)
Sweet shoes dude! I got basically the same thing, but RJS brand because they were super inexpensive on sale at Summit Racing last time I checked. $76 bucks I believe... So I couldn't NOT buy them. 😉😆Being a bit of a footwear enthusiast, I also have a pair of Sparco #79 low tops that are the shiz for when you want something cooler than the fire retardant booties, which do almost as good a job keeping heat in as they do keeping it out. So they're a little warm in summer if you're trying to sim race in total comfort. The only "bad" thing about the Sparco #79 is something that I believe afflicts most racing shoes, which is that they for some reason seem to run small, or at least narrow. It seems that when buying racing shoes one is well advised to consider buying a size up from your normal sneaker size, especially if your feet aren't very slender. I ended up having to ditch the insoles from my Sparco #79s to make them fit comfortably before learning that this is apparently a thing with most if not all "racing shoes" for some reason. This PSA is my good deed for today and I hope it helps someone avoid the unpleasant surprise of getting shoes that are marked your size, but feel like they're meant to arrest any semblance of blood flow to your tootsies. You're welcome.
Just wondering - would it be better to go with wet tyres accepting the slower times on the dry stages, knowing you'll be quicker on the wet ones (and a bit safer)? Either way, great content and looking forward to part 2.
Yes, most of the stages are real life replications and can stretch upwards of 20km+. Some of them are parts of real life stages, but I dont know of any 'scaled-down' ones.
@the Game, Review and Reallife Channel I mean I read somewhere that wrc game tracks are not 1:1 real life but took inspiration from them and only some sections of the tracks are 1:1
@@indethbed2546 that's only for vanilla stages, included in the original game. Mod stages are often 1:1 or as close as 1:1 as possible, while few are fantasy ones
All the “aww shucks thanks for sticking with me” starts to wear a bit thin. Nobody here minds a bit if you turn in midpack times. We are here for what you bring to the table. Also I think that attitude ultimately hurts your performance. You would do even better if you were more cautious.
Well we watch for Jake himself as much as the racing. What he is very good at is providing a constant relaxed commentary as he is driving. That keeps the content much more interesting. I personally can't talk at all when I'm sim racing.
Agreed - it’s hard as hell to talk and drive and he does a great job of it, but sometimes it gets a bit too self-deprecating. There’s no need for that, at least as I see it.
