Tour de France 2024 - Jonas Vingegaard : “Now it’s focus on 2nd place and watch Remco Evenepoel” 

From a Pogi fan, great Tour for Jonas a real champion. He produced an amazing battle after a horrible accident. What a fighter, this rivalry makes Tour so great and it delivered again this year!

Thanks to Jonas we don't have the same Tour winner in the last 5 years. We should be very grateful for that.

Without Vingegaard this Tour would have been as boring as the Giro. Considering Vingegaard’s accident, this is an amazing performance. Didn’t expect him to be in the top 5.

Evidently Tadej has gained many fans in the last two years as an “underdog” and so will Jonas. Even though I’m a fan of Tadej, my heart broke when Jonas collapsed and shed tears. He’s another champion equally deserving to win and I’ll gladly cheer for him!!

Well done Jonas… Still a Champion and the only real contender to Tadej. I can only imagine how strong you’ll return next year 🔥

Poor guy looks physically devastated. Wish him the best recovery. He almost died in that crash, I still don't understand how they got him back to such a high level so fast, even if it's not enough to beat pogi.

Jonas rocks in my opinion. A true class guy. To be in the Tour is incredible, to be in 2nd and chase the way he has is incredible. Hats off to him and as I have heard...make it through these 2 days...and focus on 2025!!!!

As a Pogi fan I really like Jonas. I am sure his crash affected his performance (he is only human) and hope that next year the race will finally be run on a totally even ground, with neither Jonas nor Pogi suffering pre-tdf injuries, like in the last two seasons. You are a great fighter, Jonas!

There isn't a single moment that Jonas has blamed the crash for his performance rather he's saying he didn't have enough time to prepare...thats class and he has earned my respect 🫡

As a big Pogi fan, I have gained so much respect and admiration for Vingo this tour alone... What a rider and great spirit. Chapeau!

Hopefully both Tadej and Jonas will stay clear of bad crashes next year 🙏🏼 I was really hoped it would come down to the last ITT this year 😢

Have to say. Didn’t really like Jonas previously. Thought he came off a bit arrogant and cold, but I’ve gained so much respect for him this tour. We’ve seen more of his humanity come through and he’s a class guy.

Tadej is nice on the outside but inside he is a menace! He remembered how Jumbo-Visma worked him in 2021with Roglic and Jonas, then last yr after a broken wrist, Jonas pulled over 7mins to Pogi on 2nd place...Pogi will not let Visma win! 🔥

Hope he comes in best shape for next year. He deserves all the respect. At least he tried till the end though terrible clash.

It is really incredible that Jonas has been at this level having had a severe crash and a pneumothorax in a period of preparation. He has played a really important part in keeping the GC fight at least in question up until recent days. He will have earnt a bit of rest in a couple of days' time!

I was never his fan in the past few years but really loved his great humility and honest outlook throughout this tour. I am sure we will have this super rivalry continue in the next few years.

As a Pogi fan, hard not to like JV. The trio (+remco) will provide great shows for upcoming years, hopefully all fully healthy.

Jonas is a great rider and he was in an incredible shape for the first two weeks after this horrible spring, but of course the third week is the hardest especially this year and in the end Pogacar is in better shape. But still, to be on the podium of the TdF after such a horrible crash is so amazing and such a great performance!

Don’t understand where everyone got the opinion that Jonas will get better as the tour progresses. That ist beyond me. But Jonas is a true Champ for even being at the Start-line, second or third are beyond my expectations

I didn’t know about the crash coming into this year TDF until stage 15 when Jonas looked out of gas. Little bit disappointed but I’ll take the stage 11 win. Hope to see both of them in their peak form next year and maybe Remco elevates himself to compete for yellow as well.

Pogi is obviously flying... like a ghost rider, passes any one at will and like nothing. Have to admit this fact, even though I'm a fan of Jonas.

To come in the Top 10 of a world tour is amazing, winning 2, on podium in 2 is a bloody great outcome considering

What a champ!

Jonas have exceeded most cyclingfans expectations coming into this Tour edition - but first and foremost seems he exceeded his own expectations. Shown good courage on decisive stages, on the very, very limit now, if UAE or Remco stretches it a bit on the much hilly mountain stage, he is lucky it is a short 132k stage, but Remco could still put 1 min in Jonas at Col De La Couillole tomorrow and then Monaco - Nice final stage as ITT is piece of cake Remco taking 2nd in overall GC. But Jonas have given us so much, besides his surprising hillsprint victory over Pogi himself and a gruelling persuit at Stage 11 Le Lloran as the pinnacle.

Recovery from the extent of injuries he suffered takes a lot of energy for the body to process, so to have that and the energy needed to build up high sporting fitness, and be able to reach almost Tour winning level is astonishing. It's inevitable there'd be a reaction from the body at some point and a fatigue hit. Hopefully with a few weeks off he can allow the fatigue to ease and return to give the Vuelta a proper crack...he's the only one who could stop it being another Pog annihilation!

Idk why but Jonas looks so sad! I suppose it's a lot to process, having dominated Pog the last 2 years and now getting smacked around. Despite what Visma say at the start of the Tour, I think they were really convinced Jonas was gonna win. That probably adds to it as well, but he really really shouldn't beat himself up too much. His shape is phenomenal for someone with such a nasty crash 3 months ago, he's shown he's a tough nut to crack and has the guts to try and attack when behind, just like Pog the last 2 years. They push each other, they're fiercely competitive, they have loads of respect for each other and both superb human beings, even if completely different personalities Finish strong Jonas! From a Pogi fan, I want to see you mano-a-mano with Pog in 25, with maybe a Joker Remco around as well
