This past week I visited the Detroit area and attended to great events. With that being said, the day that I spent in Heritage Park was outstanding. Walked on several trails, enjoyed a picnic lunch, and had up close and personal experience with a deer. I am not sure when I will be back in the area, but if I am, I will be sure to stop again. Great Park!

Glad to hear you had such a great time, Thomas. Since I’m only back in the area once or twice a year, it’s fascinating to see how the landscape erodes and evolves over time. If you find yourself there again, I’d love the hear how it’s changed since your last visit.

Heritage Park is awesome! I enjoyed your video. My niece and I go up there to hike about twice a week. Any suggestions on some other trails nearby that we should check out? I know about two other trails, but that is it.

Hi Madison, and thank you for your question. In Farmington Hills specifically, you could also hike through Woodland Hills Park. It is smaller than Heritage Park, but it is conveniently located just north of it (follow Farmington Rd up from Heritage park, on the left hand side before the express way). For a more extensive hike, you could look at nearby Island Lake State Recreation in Brighton, MI. As with any state park in Michigan, there is a small entrance fee unless you've purchased the recreation pass. I hope that adds a couple to your list.
