thanks Jesse, love your videos. Next time my wife comments on my flytying desk I'll show her this video to get me off the hook. Seriously though great work by your dad!

Your dad did a very nice job on that desk! I love those top slide outs w/ storage. And the built in lighting is great. I converted a mahogany computer desk (I built in my high school, wood shop class) into my Fly Tying bench. I want to re design it for better storage and usage.

that would be a good idea for sure

Glad I’m not the only one with “random stuff” compartments too lol. I feel like I have ADD when it comes to tying. I try to pull out the materials I need for a particular fly and end up tying different patterns and have a mess of different material scattered about.

The things I find in the "random" section after a few months is awesome.

Love it man. Now I don't feel so bad about the mess my desk is in. I also have a portable box because I tie on the back porch at my place in the glades. Hats off to your dad for the desk build !!!
@BackwaterFlyFishing

yeah man. there are benefits to portability as well

The desk i s designed really well Jesse. Your Dad did great with it, just like the fly boxes!!! Does he make those fly holders with the magnets? We all start off organized, it takes a huge mindset to make them stay that way. You have a working desk, is it super organized, no, but it works for you and your style, so that is what matters.
@BackwaterFlyFishing

yeah I clean it up every few days then keep trucking

it was my main job for about 3 years. Now I guide fly fishing internationally most of the time and tie flies on the side.

How much does all those materials total up to?!? Haha that’s a ton!
@BackwaterFlyFishing
@BackwaterFlyFishing 3 года назад
I have been tying commercially for about 4 years now and have proabably spent about 35,000 on materials if not a bit more. And that is at wholesale prices. If I wasnt making money it obviously wouldnt make much sense to have a cache a materials like I do.
