That trailer is absolutely perfect for what you do. Coming from a truck camper it's like moving into a penthouse apartment! Good choice for the tire upgrade, but I would suggest you get a tire pressure monitoring system for them. We have the TST brand which has saved us twice in 3 years. Also, considering the way you travel are you considering getting a 3" lift kit to make those "rocky roads" a bit easier navigate? Wishing you green lights and dry roads, Andy & Kim

The installation of the solar system was probably the biggest upgrade (besides the larger space) and makes the trailer almost a luxury apartment. Great living room with changing wallpapers!

Catherine, You've done an outstanding job upgrading your travel rig. I applaud you. It's outstanding. With your focus on security, consider preventing outside access to your water supply. You can do this by securing your water supply, so no one can add anything to your water. Installing some sort of stronger,locking system (perhaps a custom fit) would work. There are evil people out there who like to do harm, which is just evil. I'm proud of you! Keep living the life that many will never experience. Thank you for your channel.

I like the additions that you made to your trailer as a former longhaul truck driver be sure to use some kind of tire protective, like armor all at least once a month that will help against dry rot and keep them pliable. Just spray it on and walk away it'll soak in.
@sunriseskies3883
@sunriseskies3883 2 года назад
Hey, good to know. I live in Arizona and it’s all about heat and sun. I used to put armor all on my tires years ago… But then somebody had told me that was actually the opposite. That Armor All could actually damage tires / sidewall. 🤔🤔🤔
@ezekielmoorejr3145
@ezekielmoorejr3145 2 года назад
Well I always in the 30 years that I drove had success with that, the only thing you want to avoid if possible is not to treat your tires before it rains because it can affect the grip on the road. I'm glad I could help

Great tour of the trailer. I recently bought a '23 1740RK Springdale myself and absolutely love it. While it doesn't have the great windowed dining area like yours, it does have a slide for the dining area which makes it very roomy inside. Keystone has done such a great job in designing the Mini series that makes compact living very comfortable.

Hi Catharine....I like all to upgrades....I knew you would be so much happier in a camper trailer for all the obvious reasons. Although I would like to mention some other ideas you may or may not have considered. 🏕 Your water capacity, add a water bladder to be used in bed of truck with pump when needed, hookup like city to camper. Next Space below your bed as possible Domedic freg-Frezr or the cabinet below AC for possible deep freezer 12volt. Next in future if you check with Northern Arizona wind and solar, there REC 370 watt panels $369 each 2 would fit east-west to rear of camper. Giving you 940 watts not including those you already added. Not sure if you could still fit those on roof if so total would be over 1,200 watts. .....would cut you recharge time near to or half what it is now for batteries. ....the wife & I always look forward to every Sunday. We've been watching for 5 or more years. Best travels, Jeff & Donna

Her trailer is set up beautifully :) When we first started camping it was in campgrounds but lately it's more boondocking or moochdocking at my kids yards and it's been the gray water tank that was the limiting factor. I've taken measures to limit water use and still need to add a Gyser for showers and dishes. I'm using biodegradable soaps so I can dump the water from the outside sink around the trees

Ive been following you for over a year now. I just want to tell you that I find you to be an inspiration. You have the perfect rig. Not to be a downer but Im 35 years old with stage 4 colon cancer and its not looking great. I put my house up for sale to get rid of the mortgage and will be building out a camp trailer as well, but I need more amenities than most could do without, because no one wants to do chemo treatments every 2 weeks with about 10 out of 14 days being the most torturous misery, without enough electricity for cooling, hot water, entertainment. And when I discovered your channel I noticed you have everything. Its amazing that you can run a TV, i think you said a fridge as well, but plus an A/C... that is beautiful. You have a great bathroom as well. And you're excellent at the decor side. I feel like its a lot more difficult to decorate a small space to feel like a larger space, and a very cozy actual home feel. So I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to make these videos. Sometimes content creators like yourself may not realize you may be helping change someones quality of life. And you and your guidance has done that for me. By the way, what is that intro song? Sounds right up my alley. I make music very similar to it. I'm on Spotify under When Mountains Move. Im not sure if you use Artlist for your stock music licensing but I am on there as well. Thank you again. Ill continue to follow as long as i have air in my lungs.

Smart upgrades! I'm glad that you helped spread the word about the safety risk of cheap OEM trailer tires. Dan obviously knows his stuff -- your solar upgrade is wonderful! BTW if you want an easy solution for when you're out of propane, or to want a 3rd burner for occasional use, a little induction cooktop would let you reclaim the microwave space. Not that you need the space, and not that anything beats a microwave for reheating coffee. :) And a big yes to the Command stick-on products from 3M. I put the rack you use for spices into our shower a year ago, and it is holding strong a year later, filled with shampoo bottles to its rated weight and getting wet every day. Thanks for the video. A little know piece of history is that 'boomers' had a "back to the land" movement going in the '70;s pretty strong. I did off grid for years. Beautiful RV, Cat!! Hey, one thing I've recently learned about. They can steal your RV without using the hitch, simply by hooking up to your safety chains. Cut those off and reattach them with quick links so you can remove them when not using them. A lot of trailers are stolen that way these days.

I'm glad to see someone using the kind of trailer most people can afford. Good advice on the Good Year Endurance upgrade. The "china bombs" that come on the less expensive units are time bombs imho. Nice video of reality. Ahhh, the lil buddy... OWWW, 27 gal fresh tank. I had a truck to tow and store in the bed, so got the small 15 gal Rhino totable gray water tank. You can fill it from the gray trailer tank and it will even tow to a close dump station or store it in the back of the truck (two to lift) and get you an extra couple of days of gray water. I had my trailer a similar size single axle but with bunks and you can "flip" the axle and get 5 or six inches of "lift" to help on those drain pipes...and I hate that particular type for vulnerability... "Flipping" is actually simply putting the springs on top of the axle instead of under. But it makes a big difference. I had it done at purchase so we negotiated it like at 250, worth it. So consider that... You might have to get a different step into the trailer with a flip, but I got mine for like under one hundred bucks (steel/extra step) took less than an hour to install. AND, because I lifted it, I got that little flip up extension on the tongue/lift, I stayed manual but electric jacks in front are getting cheap. I can't tell for sure, but do you have stabilizers on the front? If not once again, Amazon was my friend and I got the USED like new for 80 bucks, high quality scissor versions. Took like less than an hour to install with a good drill and bits. They make for no movement inside. I also have Milwaukee M12 battery tools for my trailer. They are substantially smaller tools compared to like the big DeWalt or MIlwaukee M18 stuff. The air inflator is great, a small wet vac, and I even have an electric grease pump for bearings on the easy lube hubs. (manually grease bearings every two to three years). Also, I have the impact driver, the multi-tool (dremel), impact drill and a very small chain saw they make that will cut most anything...with patience... It's almost like the M12 line of tools was made for RVers. The multi-tool will do everything from cut to sand in small places by the way... The small older cheaper "brushed" line of tools go great inside the small places inside a camper... Sorry on the solar but I don't feel like its ready for prime time yet. But I respect going all in on it. As you noted, they gave you 200 watts but didn't actually put it in in such a way that it was a viable tool...from the factory... They all are doing it badly. So, you gotta spend a bunch o bucks just to get it ready to rock and roll. AND they still won't run those fridges for more than a few days. AND, I know it wasn't cheap to build out a system to run an airco. AND you have a complex electrical system waiting to fail AND the 12 volt fridges constantly have issues with like four of the five manufacturers more of a problem than a solution to anything. Me? I'm good to go with a quiet generator 2500 surge unit on for a few hours a day, and getting my batts back up to snuff. AND, I can get two group 27's at Costco for under 200 bucks... I'm good to go for another couple of years. Oh, and my little generator is not much bigger than a Lil Buddy will actually run a 13,500 air conditioner. I had the same side air conditioner as you and I think they are only 8,000 but will do a small trailer just great and are less of a load on your solar for sure. The BIGGEST PROBLEM with the side units is to NEVER EVER be out of level and actually give a slight low bias to the airco side of the trailer. IF those things are leveled with the airco on the high side the trailer, the water will drain into the trailer or worse the trailer walls and that can cause big problems fast. So, I was warned before making that mistake and loved it for those rare really really hot days. Maybe in five years or so they will get the solar going but one nice thing...for me...with all these people cussing their state of the art (HA!) solar systems at campgrounds is more and more of the, shady, in the woods, spots are becoming available now for me as the old school camper. Why? Because all the solar people have to park out in the open to make sure they get all the sun they can all the time. I never thought I'd see a day when sun sites were more popular than shade sites. So, for me, its a two way propane electric fridge and I'm good to go for days... in the shade sites...under the trees...that I have to compete less and less for. Works for me time tested old school tech. And I can boondock just fine. OK, done with that. Great job on a real trailer that people can still afford vs so much of the market. Appliances are basically the same for all RV's so that's even. Fit and finish and "build quality" are the main "issues with most of the difference in five figure differences in prices so much of it comes down to preventive maintenance and a decent build. I did build doors onto the dinette to access from inside MUCH easier but that's a different story. I also found the identical "bar" like door pulls and replaced the small ones with long ones that act as towel hangers. We moved on to a 30 footer (under 30 feet is the key to accessing Nat Forest campgrounds as they were mostly built back in the 50's 60's when that was a LONG trailer and 30 feet. Not going solar though opens up like 35 to 40% more sites vs longer ones. Some guy on a forum actually did a study with spreadsheets and the recreation.gov site and random places to come up with that.. Kudo's to you for a real review of the kind of thing most of us can afford with the "all in" on the solar... I have gone with Aspen Trail brand, but still a similar level as your Springdale. I thoroughly inspected prior to pick up. This is well done. You are obviously dedicated. I'm old stuck in my ways... Thank you. I'm always glad to see avid dedicated campers.

That’s a great little ac unit. Those are good with solar they don’t draw much. Wish all rvs came with those so you can use the whole roof for solar

You had some awesome ideas and add-ons that I have included in my notes and studies for my upcoming travel trailer home. I plan to write a book soon, providing all of this information I have gleaned, to share with new trailer owners. THANK YOU for all your suggestions and ideas!

In other words what I am taking away the original trailer was kind of a piece of JUNK which left un-upgraded the trailer would have a lifespan of about 2 years
