Thanks for the tour, lots to do but its a journey. Greetings Nate, I live in an eco village in Australia, we built our home and planted intensively around our house. Currently harvesting lemon cucumbers, egg plants, yellow passionfruits - big ones!!, chilis, zucchini and bananas. Our journey has been 15 years, lots has changed, I have some grass now where I didn't before so I can compost it and put around the bananas. Hope you keep up your momentum and live off grid forever more.

That sounds lovely karen! Thank you so much for sharing. I can only imagine how much you’ve learned and grown after 15 years living that lifestyle, sounds so beautiful :) I’m jealous of that passion fruit!!

Is Jerry not a squash beetle?
@FarmerNateCR
@FarmerNateCR Год назад
He certainly might be! Which would make plenty of sense because squash plants get devoured here. Either way, I appreciate his company :) and so funny that he just doesn’t leave the leaf for days

Super excitec to find your channel. My name is Mary and my channel is Growing Gringa. Lets connect! Verify those red bananas...thet maybe only for the birds. You can tell because they split open as soon as ripe. I dont know the real name for the red bananas that are sold in north america. Good job so far. I look forward to sharing and learning with you.

Hi Mary! Thank you for tuning in! Very good point with the red bananas, luckily these are from the farm and while I haven’t seen them produce a rack yet I’ve been told they’re great for eating! Updates to come as they grow up :)

Do you have any tips for people who may want to travel there ? and setting up residence ? Please. Thank you. I am not from United States. I am interested to know the prices for land and govt charges for residency. Thank you.

Those are some great questions! Maybe i'll do a video about moving to Costa Rica and becoming a resident (i'm still in the process). As for traveling tips - depending on where you're coming from I recommend keeping an open mind and being willing to experience a different pace/way of life. Here on the Caribbean side of the country, things are quite a bit different from what I was used to in the United States. I think so long as you are open to "going with the flow" you're likely to love the experience, but if you like to plan things out to the minute and have everything follow a strict schedule you might find yourself a bit frustrated at times. As for residency, there's a few different routes to take and they all take time, but I've heard that its easier in comparison to lots of other countries. Here's an article that talks about the process: www.ticotimes.net/2021/12/07/5-ways-to-become-a-legal-resident-of-costa-rica Prices for land is complicated - it varies tremendously based on location, type of land, how developed it is, etc. You can expect to see prices range from $1m^2 (usually this is only for remote areas and/or raw jungle) to $25m^2 and some lots are priced even more expensive - i've heard of land selling for $100m^2. Prices have been on the rise as well, things have changed quite drastically in just the past few years. I hope that helps!
