Don’t know if you caught Erin’s (Impatient Gardener) video about her garden destruction but it was nothing near the great work Chad does! She had a HUGE section of her garden destroyed by machinery. I watched that too and had flashbacks to my old house where we needed plumbing done near a garden I had been working on for several years. They had plenty of room to work around it, but I would still find them walking on several of my plants. I finally had to just stand next to the garden to be my plant's referee. There was a master gardener interviewed on Gardner's World who said that construction workers have no respect for people's gardens. I think we can rule Chad out of that equation. Sadly, he's the exception and not the norm.

When I was a girl, women would decorate the graves on Memorial Day with mason jars filled with Iris and Peony blooms. Then afterwards, when cleaning up the next week, they would empty the jars and spent blooms in the ditch and hillside around the cemetery. Today, when you visit the cemetery, you can see those Irises blooming where the women emptied those jars so many years ago. 😲 Edits: I should say "some" of those Irises lived and are blooming still. Of course, not every one survived.

I love all that chaos! When I was little, my dad got a building permit for a small porch off our back door. Just big enough to stand on before going down a few steps. Two days later, our whole back yard had every large hole digging, earth moving machine known to man. We ended up with a large 2 story addition with full basement on our house. My Auntie belonged to the American Iris Society for years (passed 2006). She was so proud of having once won the Dyke Award. She instilled my LOVE of gardening and what i needed to know to grow gorgeous Iris. I posted earlier comment about dusting dirt to see if she was doing same as Auntie Gail. As well as cutting the Iris fan back in fall when separating, Auntie would have me cut off the roots and dry rhizome out for 1-2 weeks before replanting to prevent rhizome rot. Cut flower stalk down as soon as can after flowering. She lived in mountains of east TN and used tax deadline (April 15) as a reminder for first feeding. I’m in zone 7b, Piedmont of NC, so she had me use April Fools day as reminder. I miss my Auntie Gail… thank you for the memories you brought up.

We are in Jordan in the" Middle East" The black iris, which is famous for us in Jordan, is Princess of Jordan.. Black Iris The black iris wildflower is the undisputed queen of the Jordanian wildflowers, not only because of its beauty, but also for its length of up to 30 centimeters, and its stunning color between dark purple and dark purple. This flower is distinguished by more than 250 wild flowers that bloom at the beginning of the spring to paint a beautiful natural aesthetic painting of the green cover that covers the Kingdom. It was taken as a national symbol in Jordan to demonstrate the status of wildlife and the biodiversity that characterizes Jordan. It is found in many locations in Jordan, including Zobia, Ajloun Mountains, Yarmouk Protectorate, and the Koura region. Jordan has been famous - throughout history - for its forests and plants, and in the past many historians and travelers have described it as green, and with the richness of its wildlife. The black iris was strongly present in excavations, in mosaic paintings, and in inscriptions, as one of the most important types of plants and wildflowers. The captivating beauty of the plant hides its strength, its endurance to harsh environmental conditions, its steadfastness in the middle of the desert, and its emergence from among the rocks and in the valleys and hills. This period of the year is considered a typical season for wild trips in Jordan to discover archaeological sites and search for plants, especially the black iris, and suggestions are put forward in Jordan to protect the black iris and similar plants, especially in the desert and Dead Sea regions. Jordan has declared the iris flower to be its national flower, and has also declared its protection as the rarest flower on earth, declaring its pride that it grows in its lands, and that protecting it is part of preserving the status of wildlife and biodiversity in the Kingdom.

I would love to see those bulbs too! I have commented multiple times that I wish Laura would give a spring bulb tour. I don't think she has done those, unless I missed it? Remember, I think it was last year, maybe two seasons ago when she planted like 2K bulbs? Oh how I would love to see the show of all those bulbs!

Rami, I changed out my 4'X8' and 4'X12" raised beds to accomodate my Iris "addiction". I counted them this morning and I have 96 different Iris now. I LOVE them, but it's sad that they only bloom during the month of May in my area. Still worth it, though

Samantha Grace will enjoy looking back at these videos with you someday. Enjoy the process. You’re so smart to do this when the kids are little by the time they are teenagers it will be amazing.

Today, we see Felis domesticus in his natural habitat, the human home and gardens. Our two subjects in this episode are Russell and Cheddar, both pets of the LeBoutillier family. At 4:15, Russell demonstrates that confusing habit Felis typically exhibits when a door which they have begged to be opened for them is finally opened. At 4:27, Cheddar shows how the breed expertly takes advantage of a preoccupied human, leaping with athletic precision past her into the opened door without so much as grazing his brother Felis. Are these two subjects working in tandem? No one knows. At 11:12, Russell emerges from the Hartley after having carefully inspected the work on the new floor installation, which is nearing completion. Looks like he approves. Obviously, he takes his supervisory duties very seriously and has been johnny on the spot making sure that all goes smoothly with the trenching in process during renovation of the property. Finally, at 3:22, he demonstrates how, here in his demesne, It is simply a good day to be a cat. Thank you for joining us for our in-depth exploration of this fascinating species, Felis domesticus. We hope you'll join us in our next episode where we explore the arch enemy of Felis, Canis familiaris. Good night and have a pleasant tomorrow. ~ Lisa
