is that guy crazy with that car...with a race approaching...why didnt some of the locals contact a local farmer with a low loader and lift the car and him up and drop them into the nearest field out of the way altogether save all that hassle...
That seems a crazy amount of vehicles & police for just a few bikes. Cant understand why one cop just didnt stay there to stop the car instead of a relay which was causing congestion.
The police need to keep approx ½ to 1 mile of road closed ahead of the race at all times. This is done by using a 'caterpillar' system to achieve the rolling road closure as seen in the clip. The other bikers are covering a multitude of roles as well as helping out the police.
No it wasn't as he was a NEG Peloton safety bike , the police had responsibility for junctions and traffic . The peloton bike's job is to flag obstacles and direction changes, he stopped as the police were not there, the procedure is the junction should be covered until the next police or NEG Junction bike ( screen blade) bike comes, to caterpillar on, they didn't do that which left the area open for the car.
holidrones - With morons like that motorist they need a lot to clear the course, just imagine what would have happened had he driven on to the course as the race co0mplete with support vehicles came round the bend. The motorist should have been taken from his car and arrested for obstruction. The motorcyclists were speeding ahead to cover other junctions so, yes, they need a lot.
Disagree having been caught in a similar situation it's usually as a result of poor signage and road closures. When there is a mix of police and amateurs this sort of thing happened. When it happened to me I'd pulled out from visiting a friend's farm, no knowledge, no signage, no traffic. Next thing I know I'm face to face with a motorbike speeding towards on my side of the road flashing his lights and swerved round me. Not a police bike so I was thinking "who the fuck is this nutter". It was only when I saw a police bike I figured out something must be going on. Pulled over then proceeded to get shouted by basically everyone who passed. So I do have every sympathy for this guy, there's a good chance he came from a minor road, drive or track that had not been considered. Didn't help in this case that the spectator decided to go and cause trouble or that the amateur volunteer told him to turn around and then the police told him to stay where were was.
