Ayodhya city is supposed to be the birth place of Lord Rama and has become an important place for tourism also. The ‘Ram Janmabhoomi’ mean ‘the birthplace of Ram; and many tourists and pilgrims come here every year to visit. The Ram Temple, also called ram Lulla temple, will be inaugurated by PM Modi on January 22, 2024 when Pran Pratishtha (consecration) of Ram Lalla will take place in Ayodhya and many tourist will come to the city around that time. Ayodhya has become an important place in Uttar Pradesh for tourists.
Kanak Bhavan is an important place to see in Ayodhya. It is also called ‘Sone ka Ghar’ meaning a house constructed with gold. Kanak Bhawan was constructed in 1891 by the Queen of Tikamgarh, Vrishbhanu Kuvari. It is one of the most remarkable temples in Ayodhya. Kanak Bhavan has photos, carvings and images of Lord Ram and his wife Sita wearing gold ornaments and gold crowns enshrined in the Garbhagriha of the Kanak Bhavan.
In the north-east direction of of Ram Janam Bhumi in Ayodhya city is Kanak Bhawan. It one of Ayodhya’s most remarkable and famous temples and an important tourist place. Kanak Bhawan is said to have been gifted to Sita by Kaikei soon after her marriage to Lord Ram. This is Sita’s and Lord Rama’s private palace and residence. Vikramaditya had remodelled it for Rama. It was later rebuilt by Vrish Bhanu Kunwari. The Garbhgrih (sanctum) of Kanak Bhavan is dominated by Devi Sita’s and Lord Rama’s statues.
During the Gupta dynasty in India, Ayodhya reached its highest political significance. The reigns of Kumaragupta and Skandagupta capital of empire was relocated to Ayodhya from Pataliputra. The old name of Ayodhya was Saketa. Ayodhya name is described as Lord Rama’s capital city. It was during Narasimha Gupta the empire was brought down by Huns that led to the relocation of the capital to Kanauj. It caused oblivion of the city Ayodhya.
