Love the "I have things from here and there" feel of the kit, it gives it a little more personality than what one would find in a kit including all the different parts
Don't worry about having two bass drums but a double pass pedal, most pro drummers use the same trick in a live setting to avoid having to tune two bass drums perfectly.
Ive never seen a metal drummer with a fake second bass drum. And most metal drummers dont tune the kicks the same anyways. Quads and double bass runs sound better with the kicks slightly different
Yeah, I relate. I’m working with a 7 piece set, 5 cymbals, want to add a cowbell, maybe add 5 rotos and a 10” snare to it as well and make it a 13 piece
One thing I'd recommend is a snare head. All stock snare heads are pretty bad and the coating gets scraped off pretty bad after a couple months of playing. The snare head I use right now is a 14" Remo Falams II Batter for the top, and a Remo Falams II Snare Side for the bottom. These are marching heads and are pretty expenisve, so maybe consider a Remo Emperor for the top and a Remo Ambassador for the bottom. If you're an Evans guy then maybe consider getting an Evans G2 for the top and an Evans G1 on the bottom.
In some cases you have the option to reassemble a double kick into two single kicks if you can remove the beater from the bar on your right and slide it onto the one on the left pedal. The purpose of having two base drums is to tune one slightly higher or lower then the other to facilitate an accent.
I get ya with the new heads, I have one up 2 down snare an bass an that will cost a fair bit, never mind all the rest you have, get the lottery on haha nice kit though mate an nice that your keeping your Grandads stuff still rocking
You’ve got a nice set! It’s very on a budget and I respect it. I on the other hand blew $6,000 on a drum set you can see on my channel 😅 It’s more for generic rock and worship rather than specific like metal.
At some point pick up a single bass drum pedal and you can use it on the left kick tuned a little differently than the right with the double pedal on it. Lots of pedals, but a bigger sound pallet.
new sub here bro, oldschool 80's drummer here , i am not on social media though but would love to talk drums more with you , thanks and keep em coming , talk soon > tom !
It's good yea but fix your tom angles they're slightly infuriating that would be more comfortable for you to play on and make sure you get pretty good heads too and obviously tune your kit with new heads
You're LEFT HAAAAAANDEEEEEEEED OOOOOOOOOOH Can ya try playing wasted years by iron maiden? (Sorry if you don't play songs or you already did it, this is the first time i see you and already subbed)
