34 k subs now. Will reach 100 k by the year end for sure. Haven't seen a more sensible motorcycle rider. No histrionics,no foul language,no e begging. Excellent narrator. Keep it up mate.
Yes I agree: I subscribed after watching the beginner's guides about a year ago, and TMF has been my favourite vlogger channel since. I quite like the "tour guide approach", for us people watching from abroad it's quite interesting to get some background information on the places that are driven through 😉
You are all too kind! Tom - thanks, appreciate the kind words; Max - You are right, I do this for fun, it doesn't hurt to make money from a bit of advertising of course but I am very fortunate in that this isn't how I make my living; AoToGo - More trips coming soon, stay tuned!; -[DB]- Raven - I'd love to be a tour guide, I find it quite fun (but don't rely on me too much for accuracy...I'm no expert!!)....thanks all - TMF
very interesting to see my part of the world, and take it from me you did the right thing in taking a short cut, missing out bridlington, by taking the Malton to Beverly road which is a really nice road and a huge amount of fun.
Love it. Brilliant vlog. Used to live in grimsby Used to go over the Humber many times. Worse was in winter snowing over ice on the bridge. Very hairy to say the least. There are some amazing roads in Lincs. Guy Martin was born in the village I'm from. Waltham. The tv transmitter is Belmont.
I did a Scottish tour on a borrowed 1200RT Beemer some years ago....Looked in at Carnoustie where I used to live as a Naval Aircraft Mechanic based just outside Arbroath where my surname is very common...I loved it in Scotland ....I will visit the west coast next time .... Thanks for such an excellent preview of the beautiful scenery .....
Thanks, always nice to sit down with a nice cup of tea and watch you relaxing videos and listen to your banter. Makes a nice change from some of those other videos with wheel stands, burnouts, racing and bad language, respect Mr Flyer. ☺
Just coming back in to biking after a 7 year break watched all your tours and a good few of your bike reviews. Quality unbiased and informative many thanks 👍🏻
Excellent video and excellent series. Makes it a bit personal when you go local to me. I have been over the humber bridge thousands of times and indeed, saw it being built in the 70s and 80s when I lived in Barton. Thanks TMF for a great channel.
Another lovely video - especially as you were going through my "ancestral homeland" of East Yorkshire. As children we watched the Humber Bridge being built, and even had a day off school when it was officially opened! Since then I've walked, cycled and driven over it many times, but not yet been over on a motorcycle - something for my next trip back to the UK perhaps!
Nice one Andy - those were the days eh when you'd get a school day off for a local event of importance...not sure that would happen today, kids have to be in school no matter what is going on (would you believe a few years back we had a solar eclipse - rare around here - and the local school wouldn't let the kids out to safely view it...)
Always nice when someone takes the time to experience out neck of the woods . Pity the weather wasn't better . The Humber is some crossing especially if the weather is spot on. As my mate says " it's never dull in ull "
Great job TMF, thanks as always for taking us along for the ride. Such a shame you didn't have some better weather, in those sorts of conditions the GS is unbeatable. Looking forward to seeing your next mini adventure. All the best tony
+AoToGo Thanks Tony - yes I've not been lucky this year on weather for my tours - I'm on another as I type and it's looking grim out my hotel window :0(
...wonder who''ll be the first to mention the Red Arrows aren't based at Conningsby? ...oops - it was me!!! SOrry for the mistake folks, the Reds of course are at RAF Scampton (not too far away)...
Just watched your tour of the north of England again, nice to see you on my stomping ground through the Lincolnshire wolds, I love watching your tours keep up the good work
You are without doubt my favourite vlogger TMF. ..closely followed by del boy. .grown up, brilliant content. .great effort and very much appreciated sir
Thank you for another very enjoyable tour. Don't know where you get the energy. Anyway, looking forward to the next one. Beat wishes from under my duvet on a cold wet Sunday evening here in West Sussex.
Great set of videos TMF! You've shown us some excellent biking routes support by great commentary. Can't wait now for my next trip to Wales in a couple of weeks.
I live about 2 miles from the B1225, Caistor high street road. Love that road. The Bluestone heath road is also a great ride, takes you past Cadwell park.
Really enjoy your 'expeditions'. Other comments mention it but so nice to have intelligent, informative riding vlogs without all the swearing so common on other RU-vid channels. Keep up the good work.
Very enjoyable series, thanks for producing it. I have purchased Simons book based on your recommendation and have already done the North to South route which covers some of the roads you have taken in this series. I'm hooked.
A great series TMF. It's been great sharing your adventure up north and it is a shame it has come to an end. I'm not surprised the subs have rocketed over the last few months, such great narration, sensible riding and an all round pleasure to watch from the tour videos to the reviews.
Well deserved subs sir, an excellent channel filled with a variety of content from tours to bike and product reviews. Always look forward to the next installment.
My neck of the woods. You should come up here more often, some amazing roads. If you're up here again there are a few small "bike cafe's" that are well worth a visit on some of the best biking roads.
The most down to earth bloke on a nice variety of bikes nice to hear honest opinions and views on bikes and related faff!! Keep up the great videos, I've just added an MSX125 to my garage for some slower paced fun and my god it's like a smile generator get so much value for money, if you get chance do borrow one for a review would love to see your opinion
I'd love a go on one of those, I'm a huge fan of smaller bikes and currently have two sub 350cc machines in the garage (and I'm not talking about my CRF 250!).... Thanks for watching....TMF
I used to live near Caistor in Lincolnshire, and my dad retired from the RAF at Conningsby and still lives near there. I'm sorry you missed that road near the Belmont transmitter, it is a fantastic biking road. Some great riding in Lincs, however there are also the horrible flat straight Fen roads.
Blimey that was a big mistake, no Reds and Coningsby is a Village. But hey, you're not local and know more than I would about High Wycombe. Love the channel, still a late learner myself and looking forward to getting the licence sorted in the spring so I can follow some of your tours. Thanks again.
Just to let you know the reds are (haha) another enjoyable series, I live near Sleaford so it's interesting to hear the impressions of a biker that has never been in this area, I must head down near Louth way, excellent roads in the dry when I feel like a local ride. All the best.
Another great vid. I live in Lincoln so really enjoyed this and we do have some great empty roads. Your route did take you very close to Guy Martins house!
Great end to a very pleasant tour Mr.F and thanks for a cracking series of vids. 34k subs eh? You were still doing the flying vids when I first watched the channel. Always a pleasure to see your vlogs. Might do one myself one day! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for your long term staying power Steve - I am still flying of course, just don't tend to take the camera - off to the Isle of Wight with Mrs Flyer today, that's always a good trip out for a cream tea :0)
TheMissendenFlyer have a nice day you two. I love the IOW...wonderful place! I'm off to SA in a slightly larger plane tomorrow for the week. Ride (and fly) safe!
Looking forward to taking my bike licence this Sept, and would love to go for a GS. Probably start with 650-800 though;.. Thanks for an excellent series of reviews / vlogs TMF. Its been an inspiration!!!
Welcome to east Yorkshire, there some lovely roads here, I know the roads you've taken in Yorkshire, Lincolnshire has some lovely roads aswell Red arrows are based at raf Scampton
TheMissendenFlyer plenty options. A friend of mine (non biker mind you) was raving about Pembrokeshire, as well as North Wales. As a Scotsman, I'm inclined to encourage you back up here of course. However I enjoyed a bike trip down the west coast of Ireland too. Worth consideration, although it's the adventure and remoteness that you go there for, more than the scenery (in my opinion)
Hello TMF - great views in the video. You were asking "what is a Wold" - info from Wikipedia is as follows The Wolds is a term used, in England, to describe a range of hills which consists of open country overlying a base of limestone or chalk.
Excellent series TMF really enjoyed your take on my back yard (well the Yorkshire bit anyway!). Be good know know your views on how the bike shaped up and how it cleaned up after all that rain!!
My house is near that tower which is Belmont tower and the red arrows are at Scampton but all is forgiven, great videos inspired me to tour more for sure.
Did you know that when you crossed over the Humber bridge you was only 20mins away from guy martins pub. The marrowbone and cleaver at kirmington. His sister runs it and he's often there and the foods really good, but book in advance....tattershall castle was home to Oliver Cromwell.👍🏼
Great series and a shame it has come to an end. If the weather had been better you could have called in at Cadwell park circuit which is close to the Belmont mast you passed. Often have practice sessions on in the week that are free to watch. Lincolnshire has some of the quietest and best biking roads in the country. Look forward to the next series.
Hi TMF one piece of useless information a famous Lambretta racer came from near Malton called Arthur Francis I believe there is a tuning shop bearing his name near there. Great vid, I like that on the bridge a lane for bikes, excellent.
I'm almost certain that the Red Arrows are based at RAF Scampton not too far away from RAF Coningsby? The BBMF however have a wonderful hanger to themselves at Coningsby with some great sounds surrounding it! Was lucky enough to visit it back when I was an Air Cadet!
Congrats on a superb series of vids, really enjoyed that very well put together...your getting good at this lark :). Followed your exploits on Bikers Britain book. Just sold the K1600 and bought myself a GS ADV (missed my old GS too much) picking it up later this week. I'm definitely going to do this tour this year! All the best H.
Very good, thanks. I've been to Coningsby a few times and have seen the BBMF Lancs and Spits doing touch and goes. Pity you didn't have more time to detour to East Kirkby and see Just Jane, their taxying Lanc... but the weather did look pretty crap... If you are into the Dam Busters, Woodhall Spa is well worth a visit as well. I have stayed in the Petwood Hotel - 617 Officer's mess during the war. Lovely part of the UK - Cadwell park isn't far away... Rgds Glenn
Your definitely earning the subs my friend. You put a lot of time into this not only the riding, garage chat, paper round ups but the editing takes a lot of time too. I made some videos when I went skiing earlier this year with my son, the editing took forever. One thing you could improve on is more info about the places (hotels) you stay at, maybe a walk around and a review out of 10 noting cleanliness, comfort and bike parking safety. Just a minutes worth? What think you?
Cheers Garry - only issue with that is I would feel a total numpty doing it....! But appreciate the suggestion and thanks very much for the kind words and recognition....all the best - TMF
I for one think this is a great idea, maybe not quite so much detail needed for me, just, is it biker friendly, secure parking, and if you say it's OK...then, I'd believe you.. :) Always useful if you are following a 'route' to have somewhere decent to stay.....
Before the bridge was built, the river crossing was served by two ferries, one of them being The Tattershall Castle, which is now moored on Victoria Embankment,London...not a lot of people know that😉And that was Belmont transmitter
I like your understated humour in the commentary. PS.... a wold is another word for hill (think Cotswolds). Besides RAF Coningsby, you went very close to Guy Martin's neck of the woods, (Kirmington) and Peter Hickman's hometown of Louth. Could've popped in on them both for a coffee - or a drink in Guys Kirmo pub! Cadwell Park is just around the corner, and you ended up very close to Donington Park too :o)
Brilliant - thanks for all the local info, just as well I didn't know about Guy's pub or I may never have made it home....cheers and thanks for watching....TMF
It's a tough choice but I think, of all your videos, I like these tour ones the best. Outstanding - nearly as nice as visiting England myself. I must take issue, however, with your claim that the part of Lincolnshire you were riding through is flat. For flat, you need to visit the high plains of the Texas panhandle - imagine the ocean but instead of water, it's prairie. I wish you would do a tour of the Battle of Britain Memorial. That would be fun to see, especially from your flyer's perspective.
Great video yet again TMF, happy to see you are doing well with the subs also, well deserved. On a side note, I've heard you mention on more than one occasion that your shoulders were starting to hurt a little after a long days ride. I've experienced the same problem, if you can call it a problem, on my GSA and just fitted bar rises to see if they help. I was wondering if you have ever fitted them to any of your bikes and if so, did they make any difference? I haven't had a chance to test them yet, as it's been storming all week here in Houston but will be heading out at the weekend to give them a go.
No I've not tried bar risers - in my case it's nothing to do with the bike, I suffer from arthritis in my shoulders following a freak frisby accident when I was 22 and occasionally it manifests itself on the bike - Ibruprofen ointment is my friend in such circumstances!
Hi. Just returned from a trip of 2000km on a BMW1200GS 2016 model. The filler plug started leaking on the hire bike. Have you experienced this problem? I traveled from Wollongong to Gold Coast Queensland and this bike was awesome with cruse control and comfortable. Cheers love your tour videos which offer much inspiration to tour Australia.
64k subs now TMF and going great guns! No need to thank us viewers either ..thoroughly enjoy the content you put out including all your tours. #BudgieGotInspired
Really enjoying this series. Please tell me does the GS have the same throttle issues as your Ducati before you fitted these plastic sleeves? Kindest regards. Joe.
You deserve the subs, great channel. Great tour again thanks for showing. Just a question, Your vids seem very stable do you use stabilization in editing or camera? Is it the frame rate? again Thank you.
Thanks 02bigkev, appreciate the kind words. ...and I'm glad you think my videos look nice and smooth, I don't use any stabilisation other than that built into the iPhone when I do my bike reviews, otherwise on the GoPro it's the 60fps that makes all the difference...cheers - TMF
Thanks for this i have really enjoyed this series. Do you have any tips for avoiding leg cramp on these longer rides, as i took a long biking trip a few years back and i was in agony at the end.
Not really other than to get off and stretch your legs occasionally - what I also do is stand up on the GS every now and then, that seems to help circulation - also it's a bit of "luck of the draw" I have ridden for 12 hour days and been fine....
I love the bike, not planning to replace it just because it has 15K miles on it!! I'm hoping it will be good for ten times that!! I tend to buy the best cars/bikes I can and then keep them for a very long time to maximise value, I know some like to swap every five minutes - that's not me. Thanks for watching as ever, all the best - TMF
I'm quite similar in that respect too. I like to get lucky when buying 'cheap and cheerful' and keep 'em running for daily use minimum 4 to 5 years+ then scrap them and repeat process. ;-)
Great trip, really enjoyed watching it all. Your channel will surely grow, the amount of content your putting out is admirable, and with excellent editing and good quality footage I can see you easily becoming the next Baron 👍. Hopefully you can get some Honda and Kawasaki bikes to try as well, and would love to see a walk round of your plane. Many thanks to you.
Have you seen my CRF, fireblade and Africa Twin reviews? Honda I can get too, it's the Kawasaki's and Ducati's I'm having no luck with!! Thanks for the kind words - TMF
6r4metroman you don't, I tried it, it's a pain in the ass unless you have everything sorted, all you want to do in the evening is eat and relax, not piss about with SD cards and external HDDs etc. Best to just be in the moment and enjoy it 👍
There is some truth in that Jack - if you're not careful worrying about what you're filming can sap some of the enjoyment out of the trip, hence why I don't film every trip I ride! Thanks for watching - TMF
