It says something when you take the time to drive an hour and a half from Wilmington, which absolutely has it's fair share of dynamite seafood places, ...but that's a what me and my family would do - just to go to the Seafood Hut. It's super duper casual dining, so shorts and flip flops are the norm. I usually get the combination plate, you get a MOUNTAIN of the most delicious fresh shrimp, flounder, scallops, oysters. ( That's my pick, but the husband always likes stuffed crab and clam strips added to his plate) No matter what your appetite, I say you probably can't eat it all. So you'll have plenty to nibble on back at home. I live in Texas now. All they care about here is Mexican food and haven't got a clue how to prepare seafood calabash style. Which as you know is basically dusted with flour, here they put a heavy breading on seafood that you can actually peel off. It's gross lol I 💖NC and I miss calabash!
I myself a Filipina from Dipolog City in Mindanao and I speak Visayan. I visited last year for the first time at Pearl Fryar topiary garden in Bishopville. I enjoyed it a lot. We plan to visit SC again soon.
Yvette Smith my wife is from Davao and also visayan. I am no longer on Facebook but Rochelle still is and we would still love to hear from you if you come this way
we always go up to calabash every year when staying in cherry grove. we get our fresh shrimp from capt nance, great folks, and great prices. this year 2020 i surprised my wife with renewing our vows of 25 years in cherry grove, and went to Boundary House for our special dinner with family and friends, and it was amazing. staff was great, great food, they even let us bring in outside cake for our special dinner. great video, great small town/township. thanks blaine.
I have visited since 2011. You didn’t mention The Seafood Shack, the best seafood I had in the south. Dolphin tours and deep sea fishing. Serina and Bob have a good business. Staying in Cherry Grove for vacation coming next weekend. Love seeing the area I remember, didn’t see Nautical Gifts, I walked there to The Seafood Shack. Great video!
Thanks for this!! I found your video by searching for tours of calabash! I'm trying to talk my husband into moving to the coastal side of Brunswick Co. It used to be Myrtle Beach but I know he'd totally hate living there so I'm thinking Calabash or Shallotte is more his speed. Thanks for uploading and hopefully you'll do more tours of these towns by the coast!
Glad you enjoyed it. I actually sold my property here, but will still be in the area a while & plan on several more going up to Wilmington & down to Charleston. I also have some Lots here in the country if you're interested it's only an hour to Myrtle Beach but you're away from the traffic in congestion and 4 hours to the mountains.
My cousin lives 2-miles from The Seafood Shack and recommended it . We had some of the best seafood there , better than any of the other seafood restaurants in the area. We in turned recommended The Seafood Shack to friends from the Atlanta and they tried it and said it was the best seafood they had in years.
I think you missed the point of my videos. these are here to help people that are not familiar with the area to find things quicker so you don't have to drive around trying to find it.
If you want to avoid the congestion of the beach try looking me up in Chadbourne North Carolina I'm only an hour from the beach. I've got a few lots available on my farm it's in the city limits so there's power and sewer and water.
I think you the mean the seafood Hut and I am sitting here right now eating lunch. I didn't actually mean to skip anybody I was just trying to show people the ones at the waterfront that are the biggest.
