Tristan Andrew Williams July 7, 2015 ... This was an amazing "Walk Down Memory Lane" as our camera woman rode her bike through the streets of Ystradgynlais. I spent my formative years growing up in the village, living on Pelican Street and attending Cynlais School until the age of ten. For the past 35 years I have lived in the United States, the last 31 in Florida, although my brother still lives on Yniscedwyn Road, opposite the rugby club. My Dad used to own a grocer's shop at the bottom of Pelican Street, opposite the Butcher's Arms and I learnt to swim in the River Tawe. I'll celebrate my 60th birthday next month and it's almost 50 years since I left Ystrad, to move to Sutton Coldfield in England, before emigrating to the U.S. in 1980. My friends on the street included John Griffiths who became the curator of the Science Museum in London, Stuart Lewis, Alastair Williams and Huw Williams. Dai Jones on Oddfellows Street and Stephen Jones was another good friend who lived in Gough Buildings. Howell John who attended the Welsh School and lived behind his Dad's Gents' Clothing Shop on Commercial Street and Miles Greenway who lived in the Gorof, overlooking the river. I have so many fond memories of growing up in Ystradgynlais and I'd like to say a sincere thanks to Rhiannon Jones for making this video which brought back so many great reminisces. Great job Rhiannon!

My brother and his family live in Ystradgynlais, (not going to mention their address obviously), they got married at St. Cynog's Anglican Church Saturday 16th July 2016. So I've been here many many times.

I don't really remember any of those views. I spent summers playing on the side of the Varteg, in the Diamond or on the slag heap at the tin works; wonderful days.
