Many of you wanted to see another tour of my current kit in 2015, so here it is! Check out also part 2 and 3! www.thomaslangdrumcamp.com www.thomaslangdrummer.com Next camp: MAY 1st-3rd 2015, Victoria, Canada
It is so refreshing to hear an Intelligent musician. You can sense that Thomas is firing on all thrusters. Even when he just first sits on his kit, his hands and feet go into groove mode. Thank you Thomas, for your pleasant and informative videos. In a business, full of BS artiest, it is nice to see the real deal.
Mr. Lang, I'm a 17 year old drummer and I've been playing since I was a little kid and I want to say thank you so much for being such a massive influence on my playing and my chops have a great day thanks for the video!
What a legend. This is what any drummer at any level likes to see and hear is what gear is a pro using. Great sincere detail. Nice work, thanks Mr Lang !
I simply marvel at the pure ability of some people. I've been playing drums all my life and love the instrument but the level of dedication and practice you need to get to this level is incredible. Hours and hours upon hours of practice. Thomas seems like a really nice guy to boot. His drums sound simply beautiful
Homeboy in a league all his own. By far the most technically proficient of any drummer I've ever seen. Every time I see one of his videos I learn something. I knew about the fast toms but didn't think about applying the same concept for the bass drum. Thanks for the post!
Thank you for posting this I am finally purchasing a new drum set spending a lot of money to do so and and this video helped me in a lot of different ways.
he pretty much already proved that. The thing is, when you get to a level, where anything sounds great, you get the chance to treat yourself with only playing the best. I do believe he plays whatever he likes, if he liked Sonor more than DW, he would probably have stayed with then, regardless of the issues with shipping. I was some years back, shortly in contact with him, right away you notice he is down to earth and polite and cool about anything. He is the kind of professional who inspires me the most.
8:00 cool stand set up for the snare. Never occurred to me to do that. It saves room when you have double pedals. My double pedals are close together and the snare stand legs are always in the way to set them up just right.
Bassett457 No, it was brought to you by Thomas Lang- who really likes Drumtacs! Clean, green, recycleable and reuseable Drumtacs! The best dampeners out there. Check them out, you'll love them! www.drumtacs.com/
Stick Trix kinda makes all the time i spent cutting and putting foam rings inside of my toms & snares all for naught, but i think i may look them up. thanks for the tip, brother.
Awesome Setup Thomas!!! You are Definitely my favorite drummer because you have the best style and explanations. I see you have a good bit of spring back on your double bass pedal and I've just started focusing on double bass... Is there a pedal in the $200-$400 range that you can recommend for intermediate level drummers?
+Cristian Ibarra They are called RATA Toms, not ROTO Toms. They're not Octobans or Rocket Toms. It's just what DW calls their version of these drums. I explained this here already several times, these are maple shells and the 6" heads are sitting on the bearing edge like on a regular tom tom. Roto Toms are something completely different but also a lot of fun to play!
+Stick Trix. thank you very much for explain me the difference! my english is not good enough to realise the difference in the pronunciation. Anyway, love all your videos, I hope to see you in Mallorca whenever! Thank you very much!!
The right hi hat should've had much more comment about it. In another video he calls them 'bells' but depending upon the manufacturer the name changes. I've found some Sabian (I prefer Sabien is all) called: Sabian 9" Radia Cup Chime or Sabian 7" Radia Cup Chime which fit the bill. For something I've never seen another drummer use, the 'bells' need SOME info so here I am, trying to help others. THIS is what Meinl calls them: Meinl Cymbals HCS Bell Cymbal - 8" and they all sound bad ass. Hope I've helped people out here!! ROCK ON!!
Thomas much love to you and your enthusiasm for drumming much of it is coming off like it's sounding all the same wish there was a little bit more beat unless trying to overrun the songs thank you
DW is way better at hardware than Sonor though. Sonor and DW have relatively the same quality and attention to detail, but DW is a little less expensive. And to me personally, they sound very similar. But I'll take DW or Gibraltar hardware before Sonor hardware
this gear DW drum setup is i very like it, well I think this is the best setups after your Sonor X-Ray setups, and now with DW Drum very huge drums with a lots of cymbals and toms with gong bass drums also with melodicaly roto toms
Smooth White Emperors for tom batter sides, but what's underneath? I saw the Powerstroke 3's on the kicks, and guessing Ambassadors on the rata toms?I need to know! 🤘🏻
I am shocked when I hear that you have so much freedom in the legs hopefully I Could Make The Same But Dreaming does not cost anything. haha, watching from South America :)
Octobans are Tama’s exclusive name. Most knock offs are “tube toms” or “tube drums”. But these sound really bad compared to Tamas Octobans because they really lack the sound Tama gets from its resin composite. I just dont like DW’s drums at all. Sounds hollow and weak, flat even.
Love your setup. I have a question for you, why have a double bass drum setup if they are the same size and depth when you could have the one bass drum and use a double pedal?
you say the drum-tac mufflers are versatile + that you can use them on almost anything to muffle the sound: can you also use them on a woman who talks too much?
I HAVE PLAYED FOR SINATRA AND BOBBY DARIN AND THE NEW YORK COPA AND THE BEST PLAYERS IN THE WORLD IN JAZZ AND BIG BAND ALSO WITH MY DEAR FRIEND BUDDY RICH BAND SO IF I TELL YOU TOMMY IS ONE OF THE BEST TODAY A TRUE PRO AND I NEVER SAY THAT BUT THIS DRUMMER IS MY KIND OF DRUMMER I SHOULD KNOW
