In this video I am going to give you a tour of the lovely fishing town, Whitby in North Yorkshire. If you are thinking of visiting Whitby this video will give you some ideas of place to visit and photograph. There is also lots of information included that you may not know even if you are a regular visitor.

I spent most of my summers in the UK back in the ‘80s and I have a special place in my heart for it. I’d love to see more videos like this one to help bring back my lovely memories.

I did enjoy doing something a little different. I am thinking about diversifying a little more on the channel. I will still stay photography based, but trying things like this gives variety and keeps things interesting.

Thanks Simon. You flatter me. I don’t think I would have attempted something like this back in the beginning. Presenting does get easier with practice - one day I might even get good at it.

Your Whitby is much more photogenic and historic than the Whitby in Ontario, just east of Toronto. I enjoyed your photos and the narrative was interesting and relevant.

I've been looking at shooting in Whitby Ontario recently, can't decide if it's worth the trip. Some lakefront spots do look interesting in the right weather.

@@SimonBurnCreative You might find Port Darlington a bit more photogenic if you like boats. Decades since I’ve been there. Used to be a marina and restaurant. Still, you might well find what you want in Whitby. Have fun!

We’d toured England in a Motorhome this year on holiday.From South Wales we started in Somerset, then Devon, Cornwall, Dorset, Hampshire, Sussex, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, Durham and eventually Northumberland. We visited Whitby and really liked the place, fantastic Fish n Chips in the town, you’re right about the town being busy, it was the busiest place we visited in the whole 2 weeks away. Unfortunately we missed most of the history, 3 kids under 8 saw to that, and, I took hardly any pics because I forgot to take my Manfrotto carbon fibre tripod to match my Fuji camera bodies, so I was even lighter in my kit than I expected to be ☹️ I’d already decided to leave my Canon wildlife kit behind, a tough decision I came to regret in Norfolk when a Muntjac Deer came out of a thicket and stared at me for 20 seconds, 56mm was the longest lens I took ( what a fool ). Still this video made up for part of what we missed, very interesting thanks 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿👍

Hi Darrell, hope your all doin ok, I've been watching your videos since we spoke in town.. me+my partner love your vids(especially the bloopers😂..never realised how funny you were😉) anyway we have been to Westport lake today and its really good for wildlife, was just wondering if you have thought about visiting there for a video? I would certainly think about Westport lake for a visit. It s only about half an hour a2ay from me. Glad you enjoy the video. I am not sure about being funny, but I don’t take myself too seriously and am happy to laugh at myself.

Looks a lovely place Darrell, I have never been there. The abbey looks very interesting and I love the facts and info. Not sure Whitby should be celebrating the whaling industry though :-(

Thank you for the great video. I will be visiting Whitby from New Zealand in January 2025. How long would a photographer need to get around to all the photo spots. We are booked in for 2 nights but may need another perhaps!!! Great images

I filmed this video before breakfast. We are going next week for four nights. You could see the highlights of Whitb in a day, but the more to you have the more you will be able to take in the surrounding area.
