I'm surprised you haven't installed solar panels on your roof. Great for boondocking. I put 300 watts on my roof, and I keep 400 watt panels in the back of my truck for longer stays. I did upgrade to a 4 battery set-up, mainly because we are off grid much of the time. I have found this is sufficient for our needs, and I am a person who stays up late reading and needs light. I am totally impressed with you guys! Three young kids and you handle it well. Keep it up!
I think if our kids were older or away at college we'd boondock more. We're not really campers - we just love that we can move our house around and see new things all the time. We looked at solar way back when but decided that the cost wasn't worth how much we'd use it. Our travel style would definitely be different if it was just the two of us though. The two 6V batteries get us through a couple nights, and we have a generator as well for when we need to recharge. The best part though is the longer we wait to get solar, the cheaper it'll keep getting 😁
@@Five2Go I wish I could go full time like you guys, but maybe in a few more years. Right now we only go for three or four nights in a row, so boondocking is easy. Our unit can easily handle it, and by going with solar, I don't have to use the generator, which is loud. We can't use the air conditioner or microwave, but everything else works fine. I like the places we can park, right next to a river or lake, and I mean right next to! With the extra batteries, I have found we can easily go all night without running out of power. I have even used campgrounds sites with no hook-ups as I can get by, and they are a lot cheaper, and usually much more on their own. Keep up the great job you guys are doing with these videos. I find myself watching them with a pad of paper to take notes!! If you ever get to Wisconsin, let me know!
Hey did you guys learn as you went when you started out learning to use your rv and every day life using everything and all of that ?! It did you have a channel inspire you or maybe fellow campers or did they really take the time to teach ya when buying this rv ?! Or just basics !!? Ty guys ! Just found ya on here !
Hey guys, I just watched Less Junk , More Journey...tbey were talking to someone who had a grand design trailer (like your). They found something out about the axles that you should watch!!! Just concerned for your saftey!!! It's the episode calls Ettiquitte when mooch docking... Please watch for axle and wheel bearing safety with your trailer!!! Sad travels!!!
Love the new tour!!! All of the updates are great! Love how you put the wallpaper behind the bed it really makes the room look bigger. I also would love to have that outdoor kitchen I think that is a great think to have. It probably makes it feel more like camping when you can cook outside.. Love all of your vlogs!! Are you planning on coming to the Pacific Northwest anytime soon??
Thanks for watching! We were actually in Oregon and Washington a few months ago. We have a bunch of footage but once we hit Yellowstone we started shooting and releasing videos much faster so the PNW footage got backlogged. We're going to release it sometime in the future.
@@Five2Go can't wait to see your footage from the PNW and I hope you enjoyed your time here!! Can't wait to see where your travels take you over the next year or longer....
We had a great time up there, it is so beautiful! We're headed toward New England right now and VA for the holidays with family. We're not sure where we're headed after that though 😜
Sometimes, yes. We have a grandfathered AT&T unlimited plan so if we have a strong cell signal we're good to go. The real problem is playing games you can't pause with young kids around 😂
Can you provide a little more information on the safety lock you added to the door? Like where did you get it at and it sounded like you said snatch lock but having a hard time finding one like that online. Thank you
You are a also family your kids are well behaved God bless I pray Jesus send Angels to watch over your family I enjoy watching your family is there any this year 2019 of June 26an where are you
Lmbo why would anyone question that your kids are going to fall out of the bed ! You guys are very involved parents clearly you can see this ! Lol thanks for clearing that ! Public can be cool but also extra critical viewers I guess lol
RV bed sizes are all over the place. We were able to use stretchy jersey sheets in twin size for the two in that bunkhouse but in the same rig a year newer one of those mattresses is a bit bigger and uses a double I think. You really just have to try things out until they fit 😜
You should make sure that the battery disconnect switch kills all of the 12 volt because it doesn't on my tt. I have to disconnect the battery terminal to eliminate all 12 volt power
The cutoff in this rig doesn't kill the tongue jack or the brake module, but everything else is disconnected. I'm not sure if it's a safety thing or just weird wiring. There are fuses I can pull, or the terminal of course.
We're not going to buy property again unless it makes financial sense, but even then the chances are very low. We don't want to be anchored down again and owning a house was more of a burden than a blessing for us.
@@Five2Go thanks 😊 he looks like he would be!! We have 3 dogs along with 3 teenagers. Not sure how our dogs would do but they are always laid back at home. I have watched a video or 2 or 3 😂 of batteries and changing the 12 volt out to 2 6 volt batteries which once we dewinterize our camper we may switch the battery out. Our camper is parked in our backyard driveway, plugged in. We have 30amps of power and have only used the lights and a couple outlets nothing else while setting it up and cleaning/organizing it. That brings me to this question, we have air conditioning would we need a dogbone from to 50amp to pull more power or would 30amp to run air, electric refrigerator, appliances electronics etc be enough especially in an RV park? I know boondocking is a bit different which we bought a solar panel and I believe my husband bought a generator or something all at Harbor Freight a few weeks during their tent sale once we bought our camper.
You can definitely run AC on 30amp service. You only need 50 to run two AC units or AC and something else big, like a convection oven or something like that. Most single-AC RVs are 30amp because of this. Keep in mind that a dogbone from 30 to 50 will still only provide 30amps, the adapter doesn't allow more power through your cord. They're only useful for hooking up if there isn't an available 30amp plug.
Of course! We try to avoid those areas at that time of year and we keep an eye on the weather. We can always change our plans if things are looking questionable up ahead.
