I love all the built ins! The more storage the better! You should keep your material for sewing in the built ins of the room w/ the treadles. What fun trying to decide the best places to put things. Enjoy your beautiful new home.
Oh my!! This video was thrown on my feed first this I've seen your channel. I'm now a Bell icon subscriber!! Looking forward to seeing more videos with you. I sincerely love your home and land. To me this is paradise on earth. I do love this type of life. Thank you from my heart. Hope to see you soon. Until next time love and support. Blessings 💜✨
@@vickilindsey4499 We will see. Since we will have to be able to move furniture up for all 6 bedrooms, we may still need to do the door. :( Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks for the tour. This house is awesome. I've never seen another with so many nooks and crannies. And bedrooms, oh, my, the bedrooms. It's wonderful to see so much wood and the work that went into finishing everything.
That is gorgeous!!!. I love the land the peacefulness. Im a simple woman in the city. I would love for my husband and I to be able to live like that. Its honest living. Much love
@@robcarr-ty7jo we've been straight up about how much electric we are putting in. There would be no reason to hide something like that. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I love your new home. I also have a bit of envy that you have room for a library and a sewing room wonderful. Absolutely beautiful views and all the porch areas
I grew up in an Amish home and visited many. Trim was always meticulously installed. Not sure where this misinformation comes from. I love all the built ins! The sink situation in the bathrooms 😅 thank you for sharing!
I honestly think it just depends on the community. The other house on this property has no trim. The house we were originally in contract on had beautiful trim. The realtor said usually in this area they trim out the main floor but not the upstairs. Who knows. LOL Thanks for watching and commenting!
We are somewhat settling into a 'groove' - still going back and forth to move the rest of our stuff. I can't believe how easy being off grid has been for us. (Hope I'm not jinxing myself!) The only thing we have had to use the generators for has been for the freezers/fridge and phones/laptop! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Love the big house means more furniture. LOL which I love. However I don't love the cleaning. No longer able to keep a big house up love the porches and The View. Truly you guys are very blessed❤
@@fayee8986 Yeah, we need some more furniture. Our old house had a lot of furniture, but we downsized and got rid of most of it. Now, we need it again. LOL Thanks for watching and commenting!
Dawdi house isn't always attached. Our second house wasn't a dawdi house. It was the original house. Once they got to 13 kids, they built the other house. (Can you imagine?) Thanks for watching and commenting!
I just found this site…. Have you decided to join the Amish or were you Amish before you bought this home? Washer and dryer made me wonder… love to know your story. Your new home is beautiful.
We are not Amish. (Although some of the Amish here say we are more Amish than they are. LOL) We are homesteaders who wanted a simpler life. We are thinking about doing a live Q&A to answer questions like this. Thanks for watching and commenting!
They could be - they could be anything you want to use them for. The Amish here use the little 'room' off the living room as a sewing room, so most of them use them for sewing supplies. Some of the younger Amish ladies use the bottom set of drawers for children's toys. Thanks for watching and commenting!
The camera angles make it look bigger than it really is because we are on a hill. Even thought there are a lot of bedrooms, they are smaller than bedrooms in English homes. Thanks for watching and commenting!
We need some place for the kids when they come to stay. We have 6 adult children and they have children. We didn't choose it because of the bedrooms - we chose it because of everything else. :) Having that door on the stairs allows us to not have to heat the whole thing.
@Appalachian Mercantile I know that as I get older, it's alot harder to get up and down steps, that's why I asked. I have a 3 bedroom split foyer and I have fallen a couple of times. But if you are in good shape, then it shouldn't be a problem.
@@MyFavoriteColorIsBLUE After this move we are in much better shape! ROFL We won't be using the stairs much, so we should be good. :) I've already joked with Hubs that we may need to put in an elevator. We're definitely getting our steps in between hauling things up and down stairs at both houses.
Who lives in the other house and has 2 cars? How come it is all right to use the internet and computers or laptops plus a cell phone? You don’t like white gas? How are you going to get hot water without heating up your house in the summer because all you have is natural air through the windows? And how are you able to use a generator to charge up your lights? I’m really not trying to be mean, rude, or catty I’m just very confused I like in WI and our ( a lot of ) Amish is so different because what you have isn’t acceptable or tolerated around here so I’m just really confused and curious. Thank You for the tour it was nice but I would’ve enjoyed a tour of your root cellar!!
The other house is our quilt shop and the cars are ours. We are NOT Amish. We simply bought an Amish farm. The other videos show how we take care of the water etc. It is pretty amazing to be able to use what they have in place. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Well, you have asked the unanswerable question - I've been able to answer them all until now. LOL We gave the previous owner cash and he left it. We all figured it would be easier if he just bought a new one when he got moved and we wouldn't have to put one together. (Although he did overcharge us by double!! That's another story....) It is steel, not portable, not aluminum. (I did an internet search to see if I could find it for you.) There is no identifying brand on it. I do know it is also available in a couple sizes. Mine is not the largest one - my king size sheets are too big for one side. The local Amish down here sell them, so if you have an Amish community near you, you may want to check with them. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@appalachianmercantile thank u for answering my question so quickly. i'm 300+ miles one way from any community. if u (or anyone) comes across an online vendor, plz let me know. i love that clothesline! thanks again and best wishes!
We've been here about 10 months now. We have put electric in the quilt shop and some in the basement of the house. I do use the electric washer, but all of our clothes are line dried. The dryer is sitting down there in case I change my mind, but I doubt I do. We did put a few outlets in the main floor of the house for things like the refrigerator....but we really don't mind not having electric. This journey has taught us a lot! Thanks for watching and commenting!
We were looking at other Amish farms in the area and the guy who owned this one told us we should go look at his. Good luck! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Please tell me the "name" of the rechargeable overhead light and maybe where I can order one. I've got to get a couple of them, but don't know where! Thanks for your help.
They are called Miller Tech Rechargable LED Lanterns. I don't know where you would get one - we got it from a local Amish store. I do know we had to buy the lantern, bulb and charger separately. They also have an awesome headlamp. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Our area here now puts in trim. The area we looked at in KY did no trim and were only allowed to use white on the walls. I think it is just the area. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Something to do with the hot and cold having to be kept separate...??? Even our Amish kids can't tell you the exact reason. Thanks for watching and commenting!
This particular family moved up to the northern part of the state to help take care of his dad. None of his brothers here could afford to buy the farm, so it sold outside the Amish community. Right after we moved here, a couple Amish families moved to Wyoming to start a community there. Thanks for watching and commenting!
There was no electric when we purchased the home. The quilt shop has electric and we have put in enough electric in the basement of the main house for the freezers, fridge and now grow lights. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Saving water why they don't use the shower most likely sorry can't watch anymore your faming motion is killing me. LOL sorry😢 would really love to see more, but unable 😢😢😢
