This is nice, but from the prices I'm seeing online the only selling point is that it's closer for people on the Atlantic/Caribbean side of the Americas. One can get all of this in Tahiti or the Maldives, on a 7 night stay, for 40-50% less than what Sandals is going to charge in Jamaica.

Hi there - That is true, however don't forget Sandals is completely all-inclusive (includes everything from unlimited food, unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, water sports, land sports, transfers, gratuities, taxes, wifi, etc.) So while you are paying less to go to places like Tahiti or Maldives, you do have to factor in the extra cost that makes up the difference in what you are getting in a Sandals package. Plus, you can't beat an extra day in your Overwater Suite vs an extra day in a plane. ;)

Well, you can only eat and drink so much; but, good point about the activities and the extra day of flying. Very good point!

Kidlaw77: No, not at all... Tahiti and Maldives cost much more than Jamaica. Of course it depends on what type of resort you are going to stay in, and what part of the world your are travel there from. But the extra travel day(s) to get to more remote locations like Tahiti, plus the fact that you still have to pay for food, activities, tips and transfers, makes a HUGE difference. I live in the New York area, and there is no way a trip to Tahiti or the Maldives cost less than a trip to Sandals Jamaica, let alone 40-50% less. I booked a trip to Bora Bora and the cost was around 30K...The person traveling with me was in South America though, so we meet in South America, and then went unto Chile, to Tahiti, to Bora Bora.. I had 3 days of travel to get to Tahiti, and so we had extra hotel stays in each country that pumped up the cost, but still, there is no way a trip to Tahiti is 50% less, for comparable accommodations, at normal rates. Of course if you got some kind of usual special exclusive deal, then maybe you could pull it off, but other than that, no.. Now I just booked a trip to this Sandals in Jamaica and I can tell you for a fact that the cost to get us both there is about half of what the Tahiti/Bora Bora cost us. And the accommodations at this Sandals Over Water Villa are comparable to Overwater villas at the best resorts in Tahiti and Bora Bora. If had not been meeting my friend in South America first, then my journey to Tahiti would have been New York, to LA, to Tahiti. Two days travel since I don't like to book flights back-to-back on the same day. But for me to get to Jamaica from New York it's only a 7 Hour flight, and only $1000 round trip.

The resorts do an amazing job preparing for intense storms. But we just sat down with the Chairman of Sandals and happened to ask this very question. We were assured they are built to withstand hurricanes, however they would never allow guests to stay in one of these during one (or any of their other beachfront rooms). So during storms, there are safe areas that are set up for gusts (such as conference rooms without windows). We were down at Sandals Grande St Lucian durring Hurricane Matthew (when he was still just a tropical storm) and Sandals made sure everyone was safe, had food/drinks, and knew what was going on at all times. They take storms very seriously. We also toured these at high tide. There is a reef off of the coast there that breaks all of the big waves. High tide is no problem at all. Low tide is when some of the water goes out and leaves some sand bars in it's place.

How much is a 4 night stay for 2 going for with these unique rooms?? Estimation
@PlanetBlake
@PlanetBlake 5 лет назад
janae770 : Rates can vary during the year depending on if you go during high season or low season or whenever, but I can tell that for late July 2019, the price for our 3 night stay for two is about $9,500. One must remember though that prices are "All-Inclusive," so that includes all the food, drinks, butler service, round-trip transfers from the airport, and many resort activities.

How can you have a negative comment about Paradise!? The type of people that will get to heaven and complain that GOD didnt meet them at the gates or the pearly gates were not as shinny as they thought LOL LOL LOL. People will take the joy out of anything with their entitled behinds. I will enjoy my stay!! Because I know GOD HIMSELF made it possible to enjoy his makings. Safe travels all

The bungalow is wonderful but the water is only ankle high from what I see. It would be great if you could swim in the water but you can't.
@MyParadisePlanner
@MyParadisePlanner 7 лет назад
At the time we went, it was low tide which made the water much more shallow. Depending on the tides, it can be deep enough to swim at high tide. Though the sand bar is nice because it gives you a private beach area. If you walk the sand bar during low tide to the end it gets deeper and eventually becomes a nice area where you can swim and snorkel. The bungalows on the left (when facing them from the dock) are situated closer to where the water is deeper.

Are you crazy? They have to careful how deep they build those structures. They dont want drunk tourists to drown. You can easily swim during high tide.Liability, dude.

I’m still making my reservation ....cause I can’t swim that well anyway😂

sxyldy7 : LOL. Me too. Even if it were only waste deep that would be plenty for me lol
@PlanetBlake
@PlanetBlake 5 лет назад
@@seanbryan1739 : I doubt it has anything to with liability or protecting drunk tourist. If that were the case then places like this would be non-alcoholic. I would assume the construction/design was dictated by the natural structure of the reef/sandbar itself. There are tons of places in the world with Over-The-Water Bungalows the sit in much deeper water than this, because that is where they chose to place them, and because the natural structure and depth of the reef/sand bars allowed for it. I would think that is most every case, the builders have to take great consideration and care not to destroy the natural formation of the reef, and/or destroy the ecosystem of the reef and lagoon.

All that money for no privacy? If you and your significant other decide to get intimate your neighbors in the water swimming can see you. Oh you wanna take a shower and you have one that's on the side of the heart shape everyone on the beach can see you. Piss poor design making them in the shape of a heart they should have all been parallel to the beach line!
