Discover the private apartments of this beautiful chateau, which for hundreds of years was lived in by French counts and marquis!
I'm delighted to welcome you into my home, and to take you on a personal tour. There's so much to see that I've had to split the tour into several parts. This week I'll show you the private areas, not usually seen by guests, that we use in our every day life at the chateau - including my mother's apartment, the service rooms behind the kitchen, and the apartment that was lived in by the Marquis to live at the chateau 👑
It's the moment we've all been waiting for - a full tour of the Chateau de Lalande! I'm sorry that it's taken me so long to do this, but I never felt that the chateau was fully ready! But I've realised that I'll always feel that way, and part of the beauty of a historic home like this is that it's always a work in progress. Restoring Lalande is the creative passion of my life ❤️🏰❤️
Escape to the chateau with ’The Chateau Diaries’ 🏰
This weekly vlog follows the adventures of chatelaine Stephanie in her French 16th century home, the Chateau de Lalande, in the heart of rural France ❤️
A very special thank you to all of you who have become Patrons of the Chateau de Lalande. As you can imagine, your help means more to me now than ever. Because of you, I'll be able to keep living at Lalande and making videos even though our chambres d'hotes income has been decimated by the coronavirus. I’ve been overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity, On behalf of this beautiful chateau that will continue to survive and flourish because of you, thank you!!!

So glad you did not take your mothers advice to not show the unfinished rooms. I think its so important that people see the reality of a chateau, not just the beautiful finished product. You have accomplished so much, and can be so proud of everything you have done. Of course there will always be more, but its the process thats more important than the end. Well done. Loving every single moment!!

As much as I like your mum, I think you are right: It was a good idea to show rooms like the laundry. That was really interesting to me and fun to watch, too. Your mum is champion, btw.

I truly appreciate seeing the before, shows us what kind of and how much work needs to be done to restore what is now becoming a beautiful home once again! No need to feel embarrassed, you didn’t create the mess but rather you and many others are painstakingly and lovingly restoring this very old, well used Chateau. It’s a lot of work and a huge financial commitment too. Well done! Mummy is a hoot! Love her apartment, so sweet of you!

I love your fathers art. You should definitely get those gorgeous originals, printed and sell those to the public. Not postcard size but original size....in frames. Any size would do. You could command a fortune and it would be a wonderful opportunity to showcase your fathers work, world wide. Maybe your father is telling you this from the other side? Maybe he's secretly trying to help you financially, in your Chateau renovations?

I’ve only recently discovered yours and Michael’s channels and am delighted with everything I’ve seen. I also appreciate your down to earth manner, considering your beauty and operatic voice, you’ve maintained a sense of delight, humility and genuine relatability. Oh, you get your beauty from Mom. She's seems charming as well. Apple didn't fall far from the tree. Michael tower room is beautiful. I admire your ambition. For when you say "not decorated yet " it doesn't mean ugly or neglected, not by a long shot. I bow to people with higher standards than mine. I'd call that room "done." It's quite livable.

I love your purchases at the 2nd hand shops and how your 'finds' become useful and part of your collections. Your taste is wonderful and its genius how you renovate and furnish your home with them. France must have wonderful 2nd hand shops. Its so much better recycling real wood hand crafted furniture and using it than replacing with flatpacks and Ikea. You have a real knack for design and up doing every room! Its alot of hard work and you make magic happen! Your personality is so dynamic and upbeat. Well done Stephanie!!

Next time I’m in France I know where I’m staying! Would that I had dared a project the size of yours when I was still young enough to take it on. I settled on much smaller properties in the US. It is so satisfying to restore an old home. We are just the current guardians of these old homes and must preserve them for the generations to come. As they say, they don’t build them like that any more.

@@TheChateauDiaries William Morris inspirations come to mind with Gothic, rich colour and full of possibilities, japan black architraves, simple furniture and strong wallpapers; rooms like these become magical at night. Interestingly the Chapel has a gothic look as well, and the exterior and interior design could be considered in decorating the room. If the visual link is there through the window, it could be another room in your beautiful Chateau that acknowledges it's historical past. Thanks you so much for the tour, interiors are exquisite and it made a isolated day feel so much better.

Love your tours. You do the descriptions so well it is easy to follow. Your father’s art work alone deserves its own show. Was wondering if, in the much loved kitchen, if Michael could do a paint effect again. Make the cabinets (below the Spode plates) look like they have wood trim or in someway to look older? Oh but you may also have some vintage wallpaper in store for them. Your home is inspiring, thank you for sharing!

I just found your channel a few days ago and love your chateau journey. As a little child i always dreamed of having a chateau so that i could decorate and remodel all the rooms in it by a individual theme. It would be so much fun and joy working with all those fabrics, furniture, wallpapers and especially the lightfixtures. I´m now done myself a favour and dived into a career as an interior designer so this is absolutely a piece of heaven watching :). If you ever need any volunteer in the field of design, renovation or sewing Curtains i´d love to hear how to apply for that. :) Thank you for showing us all the parts of the chateau even the unfinished.

Love the idea of creating art from book pages. My mom used to do that too. Even the private areas are brimming with style! 🏰

Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us while renovating the Chateau. You apologize for the messes which you have no need to do, since every room, staircase, and hall are all beautiful in and of themselves. It is so inspiring to come along with you while you create beauty out of all kinds of scenarios. Thank you!

I just recognise the overall achievements done in the meantime , binch watching all the jounger diaries already , I see now how much vision and perseverance is needed for creating a little chateau household . I completely agree with developing a new stage of artsy & playful design combined from old and new , that’s also the way I grew up .

I have had the most amazing afternoon, curled up in my favorite chair with a cup of tea and watching you and Michael show us so many special places in your Chateau's. I love seeing the unfinished rooms in their current state and hearing the wonderful ideas and plans of what is next to come. Thank you for showing us this magnificent Chateau. In the future when we get to see the rooms finished we will have memories of her almost undressed and waiting for your talents to dress her in marvelous materials, luscious paints, wallpapers, furniture and accessories, which she deserves. xoxo

Beautiful amber necklace. Loved the tour. Amazing rooms. Your father's paintings are amazing. And your mother's tapestries are lovely as well. Love those quirky doors in The Michael's room. Stay well💙💚💜

I enjoy seeing the rooms in their raw original unfinished look, before you remodel and redecorate them, it’s like reading a good book that takes you on an exciting and interesting journey.

I love Mummy and Michaels (Potts) apartments. The kitchens are beautiful and I love both bathrooms. I did not except to see anything contemporary but the rooms work nicely with your fathers paintings. I can’t wait for the China pantry. I have been dreaming of putting one in my home for all my dining sets. Can’t wait to see what will be completed next.
