This weeks midweek episode we look at TOURING IN A 79 LANDCRUISER ?
We get asked this a lot and we thought we would make a episode on our 79 Landcruiser as a touring rig. Please remember this is our opinion and we have been touring in this vehicle for 1 and a half years and have covered roughly 60000kms now.

Thanks for the vid guys! With the battery monitor giving you an inaccurate reading- it’s probably because you’ve got it setup as a 240ah battery bank? Change it to 200ah and you’ll get more accurate readings. Itech state that their 120x batteries are 105ah at C20. But you’ll be getting even less than that with the loads you’re running off it.

Thank you mate. Appreciate the feed back and I will change the settings today and see how we go. When the system was firstly installed we had no drama for the first year and then one day it started playing up and we can’t seem to get it right 🙌🏻

Great rig buddy! That’s what I love about you guys. You don’t go stupid with your set up. You just have the things you actually need without going ‘over the top’ like some other channels do. ‘Less is more’ when on the road full time! 👍👍

Great run down mate. Recently I have been thinking about upgrading the air system in ours. Like you we have the single arb, and honestly think we ask a bit much of it when airing up all 8 tyres. Love what you guys have done to this thing. They get a bad rap, but at the end of the day the joy you get from hearing that sweet 4.5 litre slap beats anything else on the market 😅

Really relevant for us in the middle of planning and about to purchase car then van, love your honesty. The way that prices have gone with LC’s you would make big money if you changed it over now!

Great vid mate...! Love our 2021 79 and we've just hit the road a month ago...! Love watching your vids... Hopefully see you out on the road..! I have to agree with Cam from @wildtouring... Unfortunately I got stung with buying 3 x 120X 3 years ago for my caravan from Itech assuming they were 120ah. Got my money back though after pointing out their marketing/advertising was misleading.

Just bought a 79 cruiser as a tow rig for a boat. What a beast, I love driving it. Yes I have spent a bit to make it exactly what I want but a new Ranger is bloody expensive and still needs mods to tow safely. Land Cruiser all the way for me hands down. Love watching your content 👍

Great video. When you did the Cape York trip your group did very well enabling you to experience just how capable your Cruiser really is. I agree fully with your summary and as you say it's not the vehicle for everyone.

Love the rig it’s so sensibly set up. I have a 79 but am finding difficulty in getting it kitted out because of the cost, especially here in WA everything costs more. To be fair it would be about the same cost no matter what ute you wanted to kit out.

Thanks Grant. Yeah nothing is cheap anymore and you can sink a huge amount of money on kitting out a cruiser. There is always more you can do! We just went with the absolute necessary buts for living on the road full time!

Hey Deryck Can you tell what you have done under the bonnet catch can, intercooler upgrade and most importantly have you upgraded the air box so your motor doesn’t get dusted….
