Hey Everyone, I’m Dāv Kaufman. I’m a film producer and author and I travel around the world filming amazing reptile, fishing and animal adventures! I’m also an ardent conservationist and reptile breeder, specializing in New Caledonian geckos, bullsnakes, hognose snakes, and ball pythons, especially pied morphs. My first iguana was a green iguana I was 16 and she was so tame and docile she was truly amazing I had her for 20 years as long as you show them love and affection from a hatchling stage it becomes so easy to tame them but no matter what stage u get your reptile always show them lots of love

The females are known to be easier to tame than the males, who when they reach sexual maturity almost always turn into little psychos one day for no discernable reason. 😂

I checked Tikis a couple of days ago and it didn't look like they had much in the way of affordable baby geckos, and by affordable I mean cheap lol. They certainly have some of the best though, just outa my league, I guess. I'm gonna get my first sometime in the coming months, and I just want one that's chill and cheap. It'll be my first "exotic pet". Great video, Dave and Kat. Love ya, guys from Tikis. Your channel rules, possibly the single best gecko channel.

Hard to pick a favorite. Deadpool is always a favorite, but then that super Dalmatian was awesome, and then that last hybrid was amazing. Pretty much any New Caledonian is my favorite, with some notable standouts, lol.

Leg patterning alone is not a full method of identifying blue tongue skink species. There are 11 different blue tongue subspecies. Someone should do an episode all about the subspecies and lineages of blue tongues, it's a fantastic rabbit hole to fall into! ETA: Also, dayum that Deadpool descendant is hot. Oh man I am loving these looks behind-the-scenes of these amazing breeders!

Day geckos are great display animals!! Just got a phelsuma standingi an often overlooked day gecko species but in my opinion is just as awesome as p.grandis , standingi gets to pretty much the same size as grandis!!

I recently got a male giant day gecko to try breeding my female next year, so excited. I prefer Meraukes pattern, my merauke has yellow banding in the middle of the brown/salmons

Agreed that day geckos need bugs! I have a phelsuma grandis and she does get gecko diet as a majority, but is absolutely voracious for dubia whenever I offer them. It's great enrichment, too.

I would say that I love both indo and aus blueys. As the indo is more common in Vietnam than aus and aus blueys are hard to get because their price and their rareness 🥲🥲

Those 25 percent hybrids appear to have a longer body, but besides that, they look just like crested.

It's funny lol, sometimes when people find out that I keep and breed snakes lol, some of them automatically go to thinking and ask if I have the big pythons and stuff lol, but I always tell them that I outgrew the big animal keeping when I was young lol. And I realized that there are a lot of really awesome animals that stay smaller and more manageable and that's why I like working with the smaller, colorful, and easier to keep and clean colubrids like corns lol. And a few little things like house snakes! You can get the big animal look and attitude but in a small package lol. Makes sense to me lol

Ohh man, that panther chameleon looks exactly like my Pixel. Pixel is end of life stage right now. So sad. I was hoping he would at least get to his max life expectancy, but at least he made it to 6 years. He can't walk his ropes without falling. But when I put my hand in his enclosure he walks up onto my arm. Then he sits on my chest for hours as I lay on the couch watching TV. I am going to be sad when he passes. More so than when our dog died.

kinda think Meraukes are prettier, but Northerns are all captive bred so I’d probably get a Northern over a Merauke unless I was sure it was responsibly sourced

The best and the most beautiful red stripe gargoyle in USA are Tiki’s gecko line the Deadpool line in my opinion is the most beautiful unique line the red coloration are amazing imagine deep red but at the same time the red is bright red beautiful gecko

Well my power has been out since 3 AM this morning I'm in British Columbia Canada I had to get up bus out the emergency heat packs put them into all my snake racks my blue tongue skinks amd have hot water a little bit until the pipes are empty and they haven't even sent anybody to check it out yet and it's 67f atm and I have the fireplace going -_- I really hope it doesn't effect them breeding as I have multiple paired atm

i thought say geckos where already pretty populaire. maybe thats just here. not a lot of reptile people but most that have lizards have daygecko's if they dont have a leopard or fat tail. most reptile people just have a python or boa

Day geckos will never be as popular as cresties for a few reasons, for example they require bugs whereas cresties do fine on just a powdered diet and day geckos care is slightly more complex with them needing uvb. I was always informed they shouldn't be handled too because they can shed their scales.

Has Dav ever really addressed the many invasive species there are in the wild because of the pet trade and what kind of damage it's done to the ecosystems? And what difficult but real steps we need to take as a hobby to reduce this problem?

Keeping these species in bins/racks with egg crate is disgusting :'( Very disappointed!! Our hobby/industry needs to do better and show we are better, cuz this is no better than a puppy mill. Again very disappointed, we need to see better! :(

What's to stop that gecko from reproducing in the wild if there was a natural disaster? Don't keep types of reptiles in places where they could survive in the wild if they escape.
