We are motivated to visit the outer banks of North Carolina to see where my brother spends his vacation. Afterwards we check out the Hiking, Light Houses, Beaches, Wind Surfers, Campgrounds, and Tourist Traps. For Me, once is enough. Check out the nice Campsite at Frisco Campground.

Hi, Rick. Just got back from a 4 day camping trip to DeSoto Falls State Park in Alabama. First thing I did (after unloading the camper) when I got back was to watch your video. This one was exceptional! Been to those places so it was nice to see them again but really liked the drone footage! You're really getting good with that thing. Thanks and looking forward to the next one.

Nice video, most of the drive is really pretty. Yes, sadly I'm sure the right hurricane could easily take those homes, as it did in Mexico Beach, Fl. Beautiful lighthouse, and all the history. Enjoyed, Thanks for taking us along. 😊👍

Thank you for this video. I went to the Banks a few years ago in May. Beautiful! I camped in two different campgrounds. The one I liked best was called Frisco (I think). I camp in my minivan, perfect though there were very high winds the first couple of days while I was camped in the open. What an experience! Thanks for taking me back. I look forward to your videos.

Yes, I was in Frisco, but I had a nice protected sight down off the dunes. I regret I did not get a chance to experience the cold water showers, but it was early April!! LOL Thanks for coming along and adding to the adventure!

Fun to watch. Been there once and want to return because my first cousins live in Buxton and Avon. My cousin’s husband is a pilot for one of those ferries. Let’s give the Wright brothers’ plane a name. The Kitty Hawk. And remind everyone that Roanoke was where the English planted their first colony. Still trying to figure out what happened to it.

We live in Southern Shores on the OBX. I would have liked to have met you Rick. You just about passed my house on the way to Corolla. That plane inside the museum is a replica but it really flies. They haul it out for state occasions and bonfire nights. Yes, sand spurs are the bane of us all down here. They are everywhere. The dogs get them caught between their toe pads.

I made the trip from SC taking off from Cedar Island up through Nags Head at this time last year. My buddy had a huge 37 ft. RV that I swear tilted the ferries. It’s beautiful country! That trip convinced me to get my own little camper. Thanks for sharing!

Oh wow! Yes the ferries seem to have no limit of what they will carry. And sometimes they do list to one side due to poor distribution. And I hope you find a camper that suits your needs... there is a lot out there to consider! Thanks for the comment !

Glad you finally got to experience the OBX! I'm not a beach person but it's a nice place to visit without all the tourists. I inspected the bridges you crossed going to Roanoke Island and onto Nags Head also did the first inspection of the Virginia Dare Bridge not long after it opened. It's the new bridge that bypasses Roanoke Island Bridge. You didn't mention visiting Currituck so I'm guessing you didn't make it up there. It's not as populated at that end and that's where you'll see the wild horses still roaming free. What campground did you stay at? The sites seemed to be fairly secluded which is what like. If you decide to ever go back October and early November are good times to be there. Enjoyed your trip!

Thanks! No I didn't get to Currituck. We on a direct mission to get onto the outer banks and get settled. I friend of mine went to the Wildhorses and camped there one year and he said the horses came by and kicked the living crap out of the trailer next to his. But I guess they left a cooler and a dirty grill out under their trailer.

I think that is a drop of water from cleaning my windshield that slowly moved down the window as I drove. I didn't notice it until I edited the movie.. Figures!! Thanks for asking, I'm sure other will want to know !

Very nice Rick! At 14:00 minutes into the video you were giving advice on washing dishes. Why is your bubble window not letting in any light? What did you do and why?

I had a blanket over it to keep the hot sun out. I often set something over the bubble for insulation or protection from the sun or rain.

It all depends on the weekend. Holidays, you probably miss the chance, Early season Couple weeks, Late Season, Ways out. Peak season, as soon as they become available.

Out on the Highway traveling 65 around 17mpg, Through the mountains and on backwoods roads, around 15. Normal mileage without the trailer is around 19.
