STORYLINE:
The streets of Dubrovnik 's Old Town were bustling with tourists despite blistering heat.
Croatia reported the highest-ever temperatures of the Adriatic Sea, with the thermometer reaching nearly 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) in the southern walled city of Dubrovnik, the country’s most popular tourism spot.
Thousands of tourists looked for any shade to hide from the blazing sun while exploring the city.
Beaches of the nearby resort of Srebreno were packed with people swimming or relaxing under beach umbrellas.
Heatwave in the Balkans continues for second week, with raging fires burning in Albania, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, but this year, Croatia has been spared of forest fires.
Temperatures were expected to hit 42 C on Wednesday and Thursday in several southern European countries.
