This is my day 1 on the water tournament fishing the Hobie Bass Open on Lake St Clair. This is a two day event and Im breaking this down into two vidoes. Heres how I put up a solid limit day 1 !
Just started subscribing to your video thinking about taking up kayak fishing your videos are very helpful I leave around some lakes here in Michigan I have a bass boat but sometimes I just want to to fish in a kayak thanks for the videos keep up the good work 🎣😊👍
Sweet! This video rocks. I can't wait for part 2. I'll have to try my kitech swim baits on a football jig. I like to paint my jig heads different colors for St. Clair. The green and brown are pretty killer. Also, a glittered silver works in those clear waters. Love your videos! 😀
Ahhh that’s so funny you say that! I usually go a green matte on mine in clear water! Just ran out of the few I had and found a few last minute that I didn’t have time to paint. I took a file to the silver to dull it alittle though! Great minds think alike!
Lk st. Clair is a fish factory I've had many tourny days like that. I could here the disappointment in ur voice seeing those 17 when you know you need the 22 23s. Great fishing you did everything u could especially being in a kayak. Looked great doing it to!
My buddy told me this tip when measuring fish, Leave the fish in the net with the hook in and wait for them to stop squirming around. A tip for everyone.
Haha thank you, I’m definitely trying to do something different than most female fishing channels, in the sense that I don’t believe in clickbait- I want to share the knowledge I have and show that I can talk the talk AND walk the walk by cashing checks on the water!
Unreal how those guys cut you off and went RIGHT in front of you at the 07:47 mark. In front of a kayaker where you basically have ONE direction to cast...in front you 😂 People who don't film fishing don't realize how much further the camera makes people look. Those guys were closer to you than I've EVER had people to me and I've fished the Spring on LSC when people basically have no choice but to be close to you. Insane. You handled that better than I would have.
Nice! I need some tips when trying to take pictures of the fish without them jumping overboard. Do you leave the fish in the net until it calms down first before you take the photo?
Thanks CT! I run old school go pros - two hero 4’s with a refuel battery pac that attaches to the back. This gets me about 4.5 hours of run time. I can get most of my tourneys in with only three battery changes. I just use IMOVIE because it is free and easy to use haha
Before I bite the head off I’ll rotate it four times prior 180. The new exit point of the hook keeps the plastic set a little longer. They take a lot punishment...the tail action stays the same.
After watching the guys on mlf I'm really surprised you were able to horse them in so quick.. I do realize with a swim baits you were probably using heaver line than you would with a drop shot..
I don't own spots when fishing, and don't mind sharing, but just hate it when a boat runs right in front of your waypoint(s) and where you're casting. Shows how dumb some boat owners who don't have any courtesy, or have a clue on what they're doing. I've had several encounters on my local lake, I worked hard to paddle my hobie and hours graphing that spot.
"Here come the Bass boats" something EVERY yak angler has said. It always amazes me how people with access to the entirety of the lake via boat will just get right next to a kayak and start casting like we aren't even there. Got a tourney this weekend that coincides with the local "fishing contest"...not looking forward to the bass boats and family boaters.....
All in all - end of June into early July is the best time to fish that lake besides fall. Kudos on the good finish...As you know, just because they are actively feeding doesn't mean people actively catch them.
I grew up bass fishing an people were courteous these bass fisherman now days have zero respect I fish Sam Rayburn in east Texas every weekend I can I live 5 mins from an there is so many un courteous bass fisherman that think my brush piles is there’s an when I’m crappie fishing them they look at me like I’m ruining their day on my brush so then I have to be the rude guy an not move cuss them when they try to mouth me I can’t stand it either
