Guitar is a descendant of the oud, lute comes from oud, French "le oud" = lute. The oud is based on the Central Asian long-necked lutes. Long-necked lutes existed in Central Asia at least 1000 years before the short-necked lutes were invented by middle-easterners. Guess again why the oud sounds similar to this instrument.

@@onur4055 I think you need to read more about the history of Instruments in the lute family. The oud is not based on central asian instruments.

@@samishaniyy the string instruments do come from central asia, but one thing onur misunderstood was the oud comes from the arabic word for wood because the oud was made out of a big piece of wood and then the french borrowed that word
