Holy crap the internet algorithm is crazy. This is the tug I’m the engineer on now. Coral Coast tug and Cement Transporter 5300 barge. Owned by Dann Marine Towing.
great. thanks. interesting. Thanks. Watch people sail on the deck of an icebreaker at -20C ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yZxwo2_Jcl4.html
I know trainers/sneakers/whatever,are more comfortable.I see it in the factory, where I work.If you ever injure yourself, completely by accident,no fault of your own.The first question that will be asked is:'did you have safety-shoes on?'Right there is were your 'accident',becomes your own fault.
The barge should not be passing the tug and that's just a bad choice of places for a unit that side to but fucken about! Capty drop the damn wire get in the notch before ya kill someone! And Welcome to the big city bud! Dan Towing aka discount towing
Justin Shellington I would do it similar to this. The cement barge is manned. Pass a stopper line and a bridle retriever. This cuts down on work later. The area appears to be Gravesend. Welcome to NY.
Metals myth that’s an articulated tug and barge setup some are flat and used with flat front push boats. That’s a specific set up used where the barge is notch so the boat can slide in the notch and mate up
I done see why y'all didn't go with indepented push wires on the tow line. we only do it like that if we have a single drum winch? P.s. please write back I would like to learn something.
The CT 5300. That would be Dann Marine. I used to tow/ push that barge on the Tug Treasure Coast. The reason I would be weary of posting is because no one is wearing any PFD’s or Safety equipment during breaking/making tow. JC Dann would frown upon this if he saw it because of that. We had Kevlar push gear on Treasure. Wire sucks.
"Plumber's Butt" is a landlubber term. At sea we use "Bosun Butt". The condition is usually permanently cured by a single surprise application of ice-cold sea water resulting from a wave coming through the scuppers. The other deck crewman apparently is experienced in that regard. I'm sure those were hard-toed safety sneakers on those crewman.
Travis B the tug is pulling the barge then pushing its called remaking tow and they are not great at it but hey extra points for plumbers crack and maybe drive the boat instead of filming your sorry ass
I can't comment on the competence as I have never worked on a boat, only to say that I noticed the lack of safety wear and unusual choice of places to stand at times, in my opinion, which isn't worth much here. However I found it very interesting seeing how it all works.
Somebody should have told the guy with the camera there's nothing on the Floor to see it's not hard focus on the boat your towing or it might sneak up on you
The throttles are air controlled. They use air to operate a slave cylinder connected to the engine throttles. There are usually 3 places where they are located- the wheel house, upper house, and stern. You push an air button to change positions. Sounds like Mathers.
the worst tug boat company to work for. I think there color s, are. yellow and blue? They little over 5 for engineer. 200 for deck. if they try to put you on a four man boat or , the old 1960s cement barge s . RUN FOR YOUR LIFE. NO JOKE.
No "PPE"? Use the bridle for the stern line after the bow line out, they sure are taking there time. They would not be slow like this in a tight channel or going up the Mississippi River!!!!!
John Finch , no doubt. We do this on the mississippi just below Algiers point. It's fricken scary every time. And more times than not it doesn't go smoothly. And almost every time the Natchez steamboat is right there. It's like they see us coming and decide to come get in the way. Definitely have to have ppe on and got to get done quick. Especially in a high river like it has been lately
I miss my little tugboat. I had a thirty foot Jensen tugboat name the crystal and I was putting a new bottom on her and ran out money so I ask my mother to help me with it and she told me yes one day then the next day she said no. I wish I could find someone who would enjoy helping me get it done because my father brought it from the Astoria Oregon.
