From Keith Jones Christian Drummer, Barnstaple Devon. Used to play in the Royal & Fortesque in the l970's with my sister's band "Quest" and a number of other groups as well, you can see the R & F in this film at the end of the High Street. Used to walk up the High Street many times over the years to St. Peter's Church and many shopping trips. Good old Barnstaple. Now retired from the music business and now live in Bude Cornwall but still play drums each day in our house. Google You Tube Jules and Keith Uploads to hear music. All take care. God Bless (K.J.)
I was in Barnstaple in 1967, at Chivenor. Returned in 2016 for a visit to the area and was sad to find how run down the town had become. Its heart seemed to have gone. Not very attractive to tourists - went into one pub (which shall remain nameless) and it had run out of beer!
There are some beautiful ladies in Barnstaple Town Centre. It's like a ongoing photo shoot. The men dress down a little, but the ladies are all dressed up. The older ladies wear the nicest perfumes as they pass by they all leave a sweetness in the air. Style never goes out of fashion and the ladies in Barnstaple have style. Jack xx 22/10/18
I lived in Ilfracombe for many years and the idea of moving to Barnstaple always seemed like a massive upgrade but unfortunately it’s becoming a dump like the rest of the UK. I stayed there for 5 days and felt like every other person was trying to start a fight with somebody just for something to do.
