Dear Sri Sri Ravi Sankarji, Your theory to dispense with capital punishment, even in cases of ghastly crimes like rape and murder - like that of Nirbhaya - is productive of great public mischief, apart from the fact that it goes against the basic tenets of criminology!! What relief are you suggesting for the families of the victims (like, say, Nirbhaya) who are deeply wounded and deprived heavily by the ghastly crime!? It is this kind of misplaced generosity to notorious criminals that drives the near and dear of victims to settle their scores with the culprits by retaliating, which may snatch the remedy beyond the reach of law!!
