I grew up and live in Townsville. I i have to admit this is a pretty accurate assessment considering it's just based of data and modelling. Annandale is literally the best suburb, it has a lot of owners vs renters - very family orientated suburb. It's got beautiful walking tracks along the river, it's literally 5 minutes from Coles, the hospital, university. Don't forget, you don't need a higher income to live in Townsville compared to a big city, house prices are so cheap compared to the rest of the country. And there is no such things as sitting in traffic or traffic jams either.

Can I point out, the main reason some of the town flooded, which literally never happens here, is because the dam was full and over capacity due to unusual excessive rain. those in charge hesitated to release the dam water in time and left it too late. by the time they decided to release the water, it also coincided with a high tide. this is what caused the flooding. there was a big post action review which lead to a change in procedures on how this type of thing will be handled in the future.

Depends which part of Kirwan. There are plenty of great spots in Kirwan, some dodgey ones too. But that's like most suburbs. I grew up in Tsv, I can tell you all about it.

Annandale is next to the largest Army barracks in the country so will always have a demand from Defence families. Aitkenvale across the river is a bit dodgy, highest crime suburb, but the Ross River barrier makes a difference

mundingburra is next to aitkenvale and is pretty nice. lot's of nice big homes along the river

The good gross yield is offset by high council rates and high insurance due to floods

The more people that move to townsville the lower rates and insurance will become as the costs are spread across more people, like southern bigger cities. don't forget how cheap property is in townsville. that more than offsets additional costs too

Why does the recent growth values for a suburb change depending on which suburb you're viewing? For example; when viewing Annandale, Gulliver's recent growth is 7.9%. Then, when viewing Aitkenvale, Gulliver's recent growth is -8%. This makes no sense, and is confusing. Any ideas?

Great pickup Stugots... We had this reported from a few other eagle eyes also and it has since been corrected. The reason - the page is generating all the data that is needed once. So if you visit the page twice in a row, it will save the data from the first page view, and show it the second time. It should have been forcing the refreshing on this data at much shorter timeframes (each week), but it was not refreshing this data at all on page load. In this case, Annandale may have been loaded for the first time say 6 months ago (which loads Gulliver data), and then Aitkenvale may have been loaded for the first time much more recently (which also loads Gulliver data as of that date). That is why we have different Gulliver data (which is accurate, but just observed for a different time period). Sorry for the long explanation - but I can confirm this "Caching" is now fixed :-)

If you want nice new houses, bushland beach and northshore are the popular development areas. It's along the northern part next to mount low. pretty nice places, schools, nice fancy pubs, very family orientated and you can jump straight on the main road to go into the city or further north for work.

don't let the media fool you. youth crime is everywhere across australia. for some reason it's just reported more frequently here. if you lock up your house and cars at night, you won't have an issue. the stolen ones are always when people forget to lock up their stuff. not to mention it's getting less frequent.
