I used to be a Republican and claimed so. And, while I still vote Republican, I identify as a Constitutional Conservative. In my elder years, no I haven’t become senile yet, I have gone back to the Constitution over and over again to try and re-identify the principles we were founded upon, I also went back and re-read the Federalist and Anti-Federalist papers to make sure my interpretations were on point. My biggest concern is that I would have hoped that all three independent-but-equal branches of government would mention the Constitution every now and then. Seems the courts are the only institutions which mention the Constitution regularly. We rarely hear the Constitution mentioned in Congress and more rarely by POTUS. With the exception of Trump. To his credit he frequently questioned Constitutionality of his ideas with his legal staff. Why can’t more POTUSes do the same?
