I come from a family entrenched in narcissism and toxicity. As the eldest, I made the decision to cut off contact with them completely six to seven years ago after experiencing a mental breakdown. It was the best decision I ever made. This choice allowed our children, now 19 and 16, to flourish into beautiful individuals, a transformation only achievable by removing toxicity from our lives. Sadly, my siblings remain trapped in the same toxic cycle, unaware of the harm it inflicts upon their children and spouses. Fortunately, my kids advocate for what is right, expressing their opinions respectfully. Trust me, nothing will deter them from standing up for their beliefs. It takes guts and strength to break free from such a cycle, but we’ve been abundantly blessed since we closed our doors to create a safe space for our family. Our journey has been tough, but it has only strengthened our resolve to prioritize positivity and well-being. We’ve learned that sometimes the best way to protect ourselves and our loved ones is by choosing to break free from toxicity and embrace a path of healing and growth.

The fact that they literally stand behind “modern day issues” when it comes to their topics makes this podcast even more informatively engaging. Love the little moments of pauses and thinking, it shows the real and raw and what is in between. Also helps the information sink in so thank you!

In many cases the youngest take the responsibility of the eldest child. Sometimes the eldest child needs to learn to let go. Siblings grow and become independent. Which is not accepted at times. Which break up relationship.

Having a helicopter parent is as bad as having a selfish parent! The first will raise a handicaped adult and the second a traumatized adult. Please don't flatter egoistic parents! Yes their children may look more independent but that does not mean they have their basic needs meet. And the gaps for those needs will get bigger and bigger as time goes, eventually leading to depression. I am one of them. I am a middle child that the parents treated like the eldest, because I was left to take care of the needs of my siblings. Either being those needs emotional, social or their school needs..etc. I felt the responsibility to make sure they were safe, both physically and emotionally. They got used to this "mothering" from me that they also started to treat me as such and expect from me the things you would expect from your parent. When I had no idea how to parent. Not only that but I desperately needed parenting myself. So we all ended up being very behind in much of life milestones, still dependent on each other and toxifying the "sibling bond". I was feeling hopeless for my life and I started planning my suicide. it was the only way I saw to escape the "requirements" put on me since I was little. Because I was the "nice girl", the one that did blindly whatever the parents asked, with no questioning. The one that never rebelled or did anything outside of social norms. Thank GOD I started therapy 2 years ago, or I know for sure, I would not be still here to write this comment. So bottom line, NO, having to take care of your siblings is not an honor or privilege if you are made too. And not choosing too. That's the parents job!

you cant claim something is one of he "gravest sins" without evidence from the quran and sunnah. unless what you mean is a "grave wrongdoing" which would be different because sin insinuates islamic background

You know who also was hardcore on men wasting women's time? Kevin Samuels and women HATED him! lol. It's true though and those men who waste women's time, especially young women, are not men.
