Definitely no contest between the quality of the DSLR Vs Phone camera but as you say, for a beginner a phone is a perfect way to start in this hobby. I definitely need to learn more about Pro camera settings like F stop etc so looking forward to more in this series. Thank you kindly Brother.

On Samsung the 4:3H aspect ratio (last option) uses the whole resolution of the sensor. It means, that you can crop the image in post without losing too much quality.

I do some casual Toy Photography using my iPhone camera and I must say one advantage of using the phone is being able to get up close and personal, low to the floor and get some good angles looking up at the figures. Not saying that is not possible with a DSLR camera, but it's quicker and easier to do some quick shots with your phone.

Here's a tip if you have an Android: using the "Pro" camera gives you about the same features that a DSLR has such as manual focus, changing ISO, color adjustment, changing the F-stop, and the white balance. I used this for a while before I got a camera. Hope this helps.

But there's a catch on this: From a Samsung Galaxy's user, the PRO mode settings are limited for the model of the phone. I have a Galaxy A50 and my mother have a A72 model and both of then have different settings on PRO mode (due to A72 is a better phone than mine A50 and it is the Second Version of the A70 series, which is the even better version). While mine is limited with ISO, Brightness, etc, my mother's has other features as aperture settings (which mine don't have it).

on the phone camera, is it better to use the 4:3 ratio or the 4:3 [48 megapixel] ratio?

Was it intentional to have ISO that high? Or just to brighten the image up for demonstration? I usually keep mine at 200 or 400 just to keep the artifacts down

I have a canon power shot , what settings are used for taking pics of figures?For standard ebay sales , my black figures are coming out looking silver .Thanks for any help.

Id recommend ISO-100 and a low F stop, adjust the aperture accordingly and see how you get on, try different white balance settings also

Havent seen any under 300 personally, they start around 350 but im in the UK. Maybe different in the US. Look at Nikkons range

Gimbles are useful for vlogging. A tripod is whats best for photography
