omg people, this is not a puppy, its a toy. its a poodle, and its groomed on a regular basis. she's not being rough or mean to this dog, she's grooming it (and very well, btw). this is an hour out of this dog's life every couple of months. this dog, while feisty at times, is quite well behaved. you all need to keep in mind, that they are in a convention hall full of people, sounds, smells, and tons of other dogs. the fact that she could keep the dog on the table in the first place means that both the dog and the groomer are comfortable. also, she had to keep maneuvering the dog for the camera, when normally she would position herself rather than the dog. ya'll need to calm down and listen to the groomer rather than throwing a fit because she's doing her job.

The groomer is exemplary. The DOG on the other hand is a pain. I don't think this dog is well behaved. I think she's awful. Bad job on the part of the owner for not training that dog to be better.

People expect us to be super lenient with the dogs at all times when we are holding sharp tools that in as quick as a millisecond can cause a severe injury. If you were trying to cut your child’s hair and they went to put they’re hands on their head or hair, I’m almost positive you would become very stern with them bc it’s dangerous. Same concept with dogs and them getting groomed.

I have owned and loved poodles for almost two decades, groomed them at home, and had groomers do them too. This woman is kind and professional. If she had to take two hours to groom the dog, no one would book with her because she'd have to charge a hundred dollars to make it worth her time. Most poodles fidget, and FOR THEIR OWN SAFETY AROUND CUTTING IMPLEMENTS, they MUST be firmly held. The dog is fine, and not traumatized. My dogs play with each other far more roughly than she ever handled this one. You of the snowflake generation, save your tears for some poor dog left abandoned and starving and out in the elements. Do your good deeds by adopting some sweet shelter dog scheduled for kill, and get off the back of this nice, calm, professional woman trying to do her job.

For people who don’t own a poodle/understand them: the reason the dog seemed a little wiggley was because she most likely isn’t brushed at home. Like with brushing knotted hair, if you aren’t used to it, it hurts a little. The more you do it, the most you get used to it. And remember this is a demo so it is don’t pretty quick, my poodle takes 2 hours to do her teddy bear grooming. (Sorry if I’m totally wrong poodle experts, I just know from experience).

This woman is doing a really good job, idk why people are saying that she is being cruel. She has to hold that dog’s head and body still or the dog might get hurt, also its probably not fun for the dog regardless of a “kind groomer.” And most dogs hate having their hair cut.

Such a beautiful job on this poodle, I wish someone like her was around where I live. I have a Morkie named Nali who we rescued from our local shelter. It seems as though he was either never groomed or has had horrible experiences at the hands of a groomer. He has also been abused verbally and physically so a lot of things scare him to death. I have trimmed his hair before but it takes a long time since he lays or sits on the side you're trying to trim. It's not every owners fault who have these small dogs who act poorly, some of our babies have come to us when the damage has already been done.

This women is not being rough in any way. In order to groom this dogs face it has to be held she's being very gentle he seems to be a young dog and just needs to learn and accept it. Not being cruel. She did an excellent job considering how fidgety the dog was. That dog was in no pain at any time. If that was my dog I would be embarrassed that she was being so naughty. All dogs faces must be held in that way so they don't get hurt. The dog is young and needs to learn to stand still while being groomEd . That's all she needs too do.

Wtf is wrong with these commenters. This lady is great with the dog! Would love to watch you people saying she's too aggressive with the dog make a video on how YOU scissor a dog this fidgety. Yep. No holding the beard, the ears, the tail because it's gonna hurt the poor poor dog. Let's see if you can ever get a straight or perfectly curved cut in, letting the dog move, sit, lay down, play, fidget all it wants while you wait for it to move to the position you hope it to for a second, just in time for one quick snip. Everyone THINK they can do better. Until they do it themselves

Liv Castellon not a groomer but it does piss me off. This little brat of a dog was super fidgety and distracted by everything going on around it. All things considered she did great. She is at a convention, so she doesn't have hours to spend on a dog, and the pup even gives her kisses at one point. This little dog was just being a little fidget, and when working with sharp tools, the last thing you want is for the dog to move. I'd rather be viewed as being "rough" because I hold the hair under their chin than poke their eye out with shears. And those little dogs... I swear if my Rottweiler behaved like these little biting machines did, people would poop their pants.

All these people saying the groomer handled the dog too rough probably think their dog gets groomed by use of magic. When a dog is moving around THAT much, you can't just pet it and be like "oh, no, don't do that" you have to be firm and show them who's boss.

+Voodoo Yam you must not be a very good groomer if you can't look at this video and realize that she is not pulling the dogs hair. The dog is pulling himself. She is try to hold his head and he is pulling away. By the end of the video the dog has realized that pulling isn't going to get him anywhere and he settles down and let's her work. Apparently they don’t groom and discipline their pets and allow them to be dirty, and free range their entire home. A pet is an animal, they need to be clean in our homes. if your not a groomer you wouldn't understand How to handle a dog. Grooming is unnatural to them. it has to be taught. Now unless you want your dog's eye poked or ear chopped off you can't allow the dog to fuss. Plus a lot of toy dogs are fussy and dramatic like your hurting them because the "owners" let them do w.e they want. So even if your just brushing or holding their face they fight a cry. Not because it hurts, just because they want to do what they want. which is not get groomed. So in other words if your not a groomer or can't comprehend the fact your dog will get handled to avoid injury, because he or she was not properly trained or taught no then don't say anything. You "owners" think you can just get a poodle type breed and think its cute, blah blah blah,but not train it to be groomed and get all butt hurt for handling them appropriately. smh.
@vomitmaggots6
@vomitmaggots6 8 лет назад
All I got to say is if your a dog groomer you know how to handle a dog safely, sometimes you need to be more assertive. This lady is doing her job, and. doing it properly. Im sure if she was doing a video of a severly matted dog makeover youd look past a tiny correction like this as being "too rough." A Dogs health, safety and comfort are always first with a good dog groomer. I would like to see anyone try to groom a dog without using any correction. ITS IMPOSSIBLE. But hey people always find something to pick at.
@Marie503874
@Marie503874 8 лет назад
And you are the type of groomer I would NEVER let my dog go to with that entitled attitude. When your handling pets who do not belong to you, you BETTER treat them with care. If the dog gets hurt during grooming it's not the dog or owner's fault, it's the GROOMER's fault for not being careful enough. If you can't handle a hyper dog and then don't take the challenge of grooming a hyper dog. Its not about lack of training on the owner's part, some dogs don't like to get groomed and rightfully so. I wholeheartedly hope that you don't groom a dog with that entitled attitude that you have calling people butt hurt because they don't like how rough this poodle was being handled.

+Michelle Wolf sometimes you gotta get stern FOR the safety of the pet if you don't they'll continue to misbehave then what happens when they do while your closing your shears they get cut. but of course we're horrible for trying to train your dog to get used to proper grooming, and it's our fault when your dog bites us, and its our fault when something /anything goes wrong. dogs ARE like children they cry even when they're not in pain because they know you'll stop whatever your doing they may be animals but they know how to manipulate humans. I have never met a fellow groomer that is in this business to cause harm or pain to a pet. That is most definitely not a part of our lifestyle and the safety or the pet is our number one concern. If I had a dog of my own Michelle would definitely BE the kind of groomer I would go to.

Clearly people don't understand what goes on behind closed doors at grooming salons! Accidents happen unfortunately, cutting your own dog by accident is also unfortunate but still happens. She is not being cruel or over handed! I know of groomers who swear and shout and smack clippers over the dogs faces and stab them intentionally with scissors. You can tell if the dog hates the groomer and it's being badly used. They will panic, shake and be so terrified that they will pee themselves. I also know of a grooming shop that almost let a dog hang because they were dealing with a customer! I always tell people get a groomer to come to you and to allow you in the same room otherwise you just don't know what they are doing to your pets!

Anyone complaining about how she handled the dog has never held scissors a centimeter from a squirming poodle's eyeball. It would be dangerous for her to not be in control.

Marie503874 she wasn't being 'entitled' AT ALL. She was staying facts. The lady in this video is not handling the dog roughly at all either. When a dog gets hurt during grooming I personally believe it is everyone's fault. It is the owner's fault for taking the dog to get groomed in the first place, knowing that ACCIDENTS HAPPEN, and for not training their dog most of the time, it is the dog's fault for being ridiculous, trying to jump off the table, biting, thrashing, etc, and it is the groomer's fault for continuing to try to groom a dog like that. We HAVE to correct the dogs sometimes... unless you want your dog getting hurt, its absolutely necessary. Saying 'good boy/girl' while a dog is thrashing around or trying to bite the groomer, the scissors, or the clippers doesnt help the problem...it just makes it worse. We are not hurting your dog. They hurt us a LOT more than we could or would ever hurt them. We got into this profession not because we hate dogs...and when we do knick them with out tools it makes our hearts sink. If a dog just stands there and is a statue it would be great, but they don't. Most of them don't like being groomed, and they do dangerous things to try and get away. Plus we have to move them around and hold them FIRMLY, we do this to be SAFE, not to hurt the dog. Not once have I ever corrected the dog or moved it with the dog barking or yelping after...it does. Not. Hurt. Them. If you think she is entitled...then I guess all groomers are, because I guarantee 98% of us would agree with her comment. Get over yourself. If you don't want your dog to be safe, and you want your dog to be babied the entire time...do it yourself...because the dog's safety comes first for us, not the way you view/judge us...you honestly have no idea. Try grooming and then come back and tell us this lady is handling the dog roughly. Absolutely ridiculous. I'm sure you have a dog that continuously acts up and bites, in other words...a groomers nightmare...but we still do them because we care about the dog. I just saw a comment where someone said 'if my dog yelps at a groomers I will never bring them back there again'....so when you leave mats and knots in their fur we'll be sure to leave them in. Or not cut their nails at all and let them become embedded and infected...people are absolutely ridiculous. Yes dogs Yelp when they are not being hurt. We dont become groomers so we can hurt your dogs. Wow. You judge us, but every single day we see dogs come in matted to the skin because owners are too lazy to brush them WHICH PULLS ON THE SKIN AND HURTS YOUR DOG CONSTANTLY. And then they request we brush the mats out instead of shave them so they can look 'cute' and then you get mad because they Yelp in pain?! We see dogs with nails so long they have grown into their feet and pads. They have poop cakes on their butt and fur. They are covered in dirt and pee andfaces, they are infested with fleas and the owner didnt even know, their collars are so tight they embed into the skin, they have puss coming from their eyes, etc etc...yet we are the ones hurting not helping your dog....oooook....

As a groomer I see zero issue with her handling of the dog. People who are not actually professionals do not understand how hard it is to get dogs to stay still while grooming. Especially with a loud environment with lots of people and noise around. The dog was a little fidgety as most would be. She did not scream at or hit the dog in any way, she was just firm. Which some dogs need someone to be firm, but not rough with them to let them know that what they're doing is not OK. Grooming is dangerous, you have sharp object touching an animal who does not understand what you are saying to them 100% and they do not have human comprehension so they do not get what is going on and cannot understand that you need them to just sit still for a little bit and it will be over. Some dogs are fabulous for grooming in a grooming environment but they are easily distracted or freaked out/ upset in this type of environment. It is not rough at all, just firm and she is just trying to get the dog under control so she does not accidentally knick the dog or have it walk off the table when freaking out. It is a frustrating thing to be trying to do a demonstration on a dog who is constantly trying to climb into your arms, back up, or jump off the table. She is an amazing groomer and did a great job!

@@acommentator4452 you have to trim poodles and poodle mixes every 4-6 weeks. It doesn’t matter hairdo. This dog is well taken care of which is more than I can say about other dogs. Complain about mistreatment of dogs, not about proper care, your argument is ridiculous.

That dog has some good hair. What gets me is the owners with the dogs without good hair or dogs all matted, and they have a pic saying, “I want her to look like this!” Smh

it's not that this woman groomer is doing it badly, it's that it ought not to be done at all. just a utility cut, taking 10-15 min, as necessary. most owners could do themselves. less stressful for the dog. this over-grooming is for human's vanity. not dog's benefit.

poor doggie. people are obsessed with super groomed toy poodles they don't see the stress this little doggies are under. I have a toy poodle and she is naturally fluffy, I smooth her hair and comb it with a bit of coconut oil and she is adorable and stress free.

DEA DONUM I groom this cut on my two toys while they lay down on the dining room table, they both love grooming day! I don’t know what it’s like to have to groom a dog you don’t know, but the girl in this video seems so sweet, I see no reason that the groomer couldn’t have been softer with her.

Its oonce a Month the dog will be fine. What would be bad is if you let the dogs hair grow very long and get matted.

My toy poodle has some matting on the legs. Should I shave it off and wait for it to grow back to do the teddy bear cut? I’ve been trying to let the hair grow out so I can prepare him for it. Is there anything else I should do to prepare pup for the groomer?
