"HA HA HA HA," he laughs. If you want the Pizza Planet token, you will have to defeat him. A tense and unsettling soundtrack marks the beginning of your duel. Upon the narrow walkways high above the ground, Jackhammer lunges towards you, launching fiery screws in all directions. You narrowly dodge them, getting a few shots off but now you must make a run for it. You turn away to make your escape, dashing across the metal beams. Even though your back is turned, you know he's there, watching your every move, bouncing unceasingly after you. You can hear him, and he's getting louder. The camera begins to shake as he gets closer, closer.. closer... You turn around and the last thing you see is that wicked grin: the Jackhammer takes pleasure in your doom. With one devastating strike, you are brushed aside, knocked off the platform. Now you can only stare down towards your fate as it rises quickly to meet you. In your last moments, you hear the words of a familiar song play in your mind: "Clearly I, will go sailing... no more."

God I loved this game as a kid before I was 10. But being young and not aware of collectibles I was frustrated but got better... until I got to the slime boss. That laugh, every time it grew, I was like "what is this thing? It ain't no toy". Could not beat him until I was 15. Besides that loved this game. One of my top 10.

Also if you get hit by him you have to climb all the way back up there again.

Not to mention how you're never sure how far behind you he is when running away, creating potential jumpscares once you turn around.

The jackhammer was the scariest but the boss i struggled with most is the solo prospector fight

@@Willzb-xk4ew I agree. Also; the solo Prospector-fight is quite hard, with not much room to mess around, or you fall. At least, the camera is stable; unlike, in ”Prospector’s Showdown”.

i have a theory that the reason they (including the jackhammer boss who can only be defeated with the disk launcher) are invullnerable is because a) they're actually real toys/tool who need actual damage to be harmed and a simple laser isn't gonna do much b) during his journey, buzz somehow still thinks he's a space ranger... that's why he sees so many zurgbots around the place, it's all PTSD kicking back in

@@bigbangcityinc Yeah but the jackhammer boss as you said can only be defeated with the disk launcher and he can't be even hit with the spin attack while Zurg, the prospector and the blacksmith can be hit by the spin attack but not with the laser, so that's different, otherwise maybe you're right, however the Tin Robot boss is a real toy too and he's damaged by the laser!

The hardest for for me was the Blacksmith in Tarmac Trouble. He's easier to beat in Prospector Showdown because in the plane there's more room to outrun his mallet shock wave. But in Tarmac Trouble because he's on the top of a small platform with not a lot of space to run and in a hole that's hard to jump to the edge it's harder to avoid the mallet shock wave.

@@moatguy4471 At least, in ”Tarmac Trouble”, the arena and the camera are stable, and you only need to deal with 1 boss. It’s not too small of a platform, for me, either. Usually. Though, in the PS1-release that I own, the shockwaves don’t seem to travel as far, as in, say, the PC-release. Though, I must admit that getting on the edges, in a timely manner, can be difficult, though. 🤔

@@PC_Simo Well that's what I mean too when I said it's harder to avoid the mallet shock wave when he pounds the ground. Also you have to use your spin attack on him and you have to get very close and you also get hurt just by touching a foe too!

Yes You can deflect the slime’s projectile back at him and it helps shrink him

certain projectiles can be deflected with the spin attack

Same here. The 1st time around, I had no Disk Launcher, and didn’t even know it was a thing (I’m also not a native English-speaker); so, I thought he was invincible. I had no idea, how to fight him; which made him even scarier, for me. The 1st time I dealt damage to him, it was such a surreal feeling: I felt, like I was cheating, or breaking the laws of physics. Like, I actually did damage, to this guy 😮?! 😅

You can defeat *_ZURG,_* without taking damage 😮?!

Well there are only five mandatory major bosses being the Biplane/Slime Monster/Mothership/Evil Emperor Zurg/The Tenacious Trio. The others are classed as Mini Bosses but might as well be the optional bosses of their stages since you have to go out of your way to find them. if you get the required tokens for unlocking the next stage you won't even need to fight them at all unless you're 100%ing the game which everyone will be doing anyway. Stage 01: Tin Robot (Optional) Stage 02: Zurg Kite (Optional) Stage 03: Mad Bomber (Mandatory) Stage 04: Jackhammer (Optional) Stage 05: Spinning Top Clown (Optional) Stage 06: Slime Time (Mandatory) Stage 07: Dinosaur (Optional) Stage 08: Rogue Buzz Lightyear (Optional) Stage 09: Mothership (Mandatory) Stage 10: Mako Spider Robot (Optional) Stage 11: The Gunslinger (Optional) Stage 12: Evil Emperor Zurg (Mandatory) Stage 13: The Prospector (Optional) Stage 14: The Blacksmith (Optional) Stage 15: The Gunslinger/The Prospector/The Blacksmith (Mandatory) A total of 14 since fighting the last three might as well be one boss making it 15.

Also he, The Blacksmith, Emperor Zurg and the Prospector were the only bosses that required the Disc Launcher and the latter with the Spin Attack to beat since they are immune to Buzz's Laser so if you didn't get it well back down you go after that arduous climb until you can get it.

@@u.dplaythroughs8486 The thing is: You basically need to scale, like, 95% of the tower, already, to find Mr. Potato Head’s eye, to get the Disc Launcher. Thank goodness, for the checkpoints, right? 😅

The hardest one for me was the blacksmith. Zurg was the second hardest. The jackhammer was the third.

@@moatguy4471 oh yeah the blacksmith when he uses his hammer to send a wave that follows you and it’s faster than you as well

@@racerja3173 Yeah and add to the fact you can only defeat him with your spin attacks and have to move in close and to make matters worse like all the enemies in the game you get hurt just by touching him so the chances of getting hurt from touching him are high
