You are awesome! Love your channel and you saved me a ton of $$$. I did most of of what you recommended expect the drive shaft lubrication but the rest was relatively easy with the right tools.

Thank you again for a good video. I agree the 65 ft lb is excessive. I think peak recommended torque range on an 14mm bolt is like 30 to 45 ft lbs

65 does seam intense that's like a brake caliper on a medium car with a 19mm bolt.

Exactly, these are 14mm bolts and nuts. I personally check them at 35lbs.ft.

Excellent video as always. Anyone have a link to a PDF for the Canadian maintenance schedule in KMs? Mine never came with a maintenance schedule booklet. I’ve been using a generic Toyota schedule with pen-and-ink additions on it specific to the 4R. (Thx to Vikings garage info and care care nut info) Thanks !

Great videos as always and I have a question. Is it normal for there to be a noticeable and semi-burning smell in the cab when going uphill or steep grades. It goes away rather quickly. Any information would be greatly appreciated
@VikingsGarage
@VikingsGarage 4 месяца назад
It’s a bit hard to tell, but uphill any vehicle is going to generate a bit more heat which could cause a burning smell. Offcourse it’s probably wise(when the vehicle is cold) to check around the exhaust area to confirm nothing is stuck to the exhaust or it’s rubbing on something it shouldn’t.
@ericozeta9997
@ericozeta9997 4 месяца назад
Thanks bro you put my mind at ease, checked around the exhaust manifold because I suspected maybe and oil weep or seep out of the valve cover gasket but nothing. Vehicle is new 2023with 8k miles. Found some forms on burnt rubber smell but just would like to verify nothing major. For 48k I want this dinosaur to be perfect-thanks again

Hey sir. Any way you could do a video on a brake flush? I’m a newer 4 Runner owner. In the past I did it “old school” Gatorade bottle and a tube. My wife pumps the brakes. Probably not the easiest way to do it but it always worked for me? It’s a 22 4Runner, can I still do it this way? Appreciate you!
@VikingsGarage

I’m currently trying to figure out a way to do it at home, simple and easy. The way you explain will totally work.

Highly informative, I am a new member, and in a month or so I will buy a 2020 Toyota 4Runner SR5 with 102,040 miles from a dealer in Ohio, my question is what do you recommend in terms of maintenance? knowing that some dealers cut corners to save money. I will be the second owner of this vehicle. additionally, I will ship the vehicle to Puerto Plata the Dominican Republic where I spend the winters my house is ten minutes away from the beach and the year-round temperature is bet. 80s & 90s. This is my first time owning a Toyota. thanks, and keep Us info with your great videos.

Have a request……because so many Toyota 4 runners are getting stolen…could you do either a fuel pump cut off switch or battery disconnect hidden switch.

Never thought of that.

@@VikingsGarage I have been a long time subscriber and have a 23 TRD off road in lunar rock…..don’t want it getting stolen so did a battery disconnect hid it in the back under the bumper, but would also like to do a fuel pump one…..would like to see you do this video.

I had a lube tech at 40k mentioned my coolant was low and he topped it off during my oil change. I do average suburban driving with some highway. No leaks, any ideas?
@VikingsGarage
@VikingsGarage 6 месяцев назад
Perfectly normal, I’ve seen a lot 4Runners under filled from factory at the reservoir, also it is normal for the coolant level to drop slightly overtime. Hence why I drain and fill mine every 30k miles.
@morfdq

Can you recommend a coolant or should I just buy the Toyota coolant from the dealership

When do they recommend coolant service? 120k-150k? We used to use BG products, but changed to a different company for our additives and fluids.

No is not wrong the more often you change the fluid the cleaner and better performance the vehicle will be and at 50 that is half way from toyota recommendation so i think is fine . I use to be a toyota preventive maintenance tech .@Treetopflyer777

My 4R is now reaching 4500 miles and it's been great. One thing though, whenever going from 1st gear to 2nd, I always feel this little bump in the transmission and I have no idea if this is normal. When I rented one to test drive before an actual purchase didn't have this bump feel but I don't know why my new one has this. Also, when I sometimes do an abrupt stop at a red light, I feel and hear this 'clunk' in the transmission too. Have you experienced any of these before, Paul? Thanks.

@VikingsGarage I have a question, the link in the description for this fuel system cleaner, is the 1 can enough to treat our fuel system? ( I have a 23' 4runner and I'm about to do the 30k service ) Thank you! Keep the great videos coming! I find your videos very informative and they inspire me to try doing the work myself. I am not a mechanic, so it can seem intimidating at times. But I enjoy the satisfaction of doing this work myself, knowing its done properly and saving a little money is a nice bonus. So thank you for the help! 🫡
