Toyota Camry SE Hybrid Real-World MPG Test

I owned a 2021 Camry XSE hybrid for 10 months. It was the best Camry I’ve owned to date! I’m currently owning a 2017 Camry XLE V6. My 21 Camry did in fact get anywhere from 44 MPG to 46 MPG average. Never once did I have any complaints with any of my Camrys I’ve owned! Not once! The only reason I went backwards in model year was because I briefly owned a 2022 Nissan Altima SR model that also never disappointed me! I’m a Toyota fan through and through! Mark in Iowa. Thanks for the MPG review. I own two Camry Hybrids. The 2021 LE gets 51 MPG during the summer and about 47 in the winter. The 2023 SE model gets 46 during the Summer and about 43 during the Winter. The only difference in the cars powertrain is the wheels. On some trips the 2021 LE has got 56 MPG. Both are awesome cars. Temperature really effects the hybrids.

I have noticed in my vehicle whenever I set the cruise to 65 versus 70 mph, I always get 2 to 3 mpg better going 65. Luckily I live in an area where in the city speed limit is 65 mph. But you go outside of the city and the posted limit is 80 mph and that is a BIG TIME mpg killer.

I just bought a used 2021 Camry Hybid LE, got 45.9 on my first tank of mostly highway driving, well short of the EPA 53 MPG, but still great nonetheless.

I average 5.4ltr per 100kms (52mpg) on a 454km round trip. Sitting at 112 indicated dash speed with cruise in eco mode. Aussie. In saying that. We get our cars from Japan and tuned for GPS 100Kph (2023 Camry Hybrid SL)

How did you reset the Total MPG average? On my Camry hybrid I have to use the Trip MPG screen instead of the Total MPG screen? The Total is the MPG since the car was new whereas the Trip is since the last trip reset. Or am I just crazy?

The emissions test are generally run at 55 or under and they report those numbers. I bet you’d beat it at that speed

The outside temperature may have been a factor as these hybrids get much better mpgs during the summer months than the winter

I bought a new 2024 hybrid Camry in November 2023. I drive almost exclusively in the city and always have the car in ECO mode. I am only averaging 33 mpg which is FAR below the advertised mpg of 47. What am I doing wrong? I checked the mileage manually after filling up for the first time and the car's display is telling me exactly the same mileage I calculated. Update as of 02/09/2024: I discussed the MPG with the service department at the dealership. Apparently, in cold weather areas, gasoline suppliers begin including additives to the gasoline sold for Winter months starting in November and going through March in North America. These additives cause the MPG to go down to the level I am currently experiencing. Supposedly the MPG will go up near the end of winter when the additives are no longer included in the gasoline sold.

after putting on 500 miles on my 24 SE Camry nightshade that comes with 19's they weighed in at 55 lbs each I was getting 45mpg. I went with forged 19's with new tires that comes in at 45 lbs. I am getting 52mpg now just like what the epa estimate for the base model LE hybrid that comes with 16 inch steelies and narrower tires.

55 Mi an hour you might be able to get into the low 60s at 65 mph you should be able to hit the mid-50s that's what I get in my Camry Hybrid Le

I suspect driving at night will have poorer MPG because of the use of more electricity on the headlights which was taken away from the electric motors thus the need for the gas engine to turn on more frequently in order to charge.

First off your speed was 70 mph, I believe EPA tested at 65 mpg. 🤔 Not positive about this, but it used to be the standard. So, I think it did just about what it was supposed to do 🙂

My gas powered Altima can do 39 freeway and it’s a total POS. LOL😂

Thats embarrassing, my 20 year old car gets 48 and it's not even a hybrid....
