Toyota just went ahead and made one of the boldest moves ever, as their all-new way of thinking completely contrasts the entire automotive industry’s idea of the future! Instead of going towards an all-electric future, Toyota decided to breathe new life into the world of internal combustion engines, and according to their CEO, Their All-New Engine Will Disrupt the Entire Car Industry and its current flow! However, this decision did not come out of nowhere, as Toyota’s insistence on keeping their internal combustion engine going has been one of their driving factors for quite some time! These engines and their notorious reliability are the things that kept Toyota atop its competition, and it is only logical for them to keep exploring and modernizing them so that they can maintain that gap! And they truly outdid themselves with the final product! We are talking about a revolution that is greater than the hybrid revolution, instrumented once again by Toyota and its Prius! You can only imagine the sheer and unfathomable importance that this technology harnesses, so, with that in mind, let us answer the question that you are currently asking yourselves, and that is.

12:43 Well The majority of Ammonia is produced via Haber Bosch process which requires Hydrogen as input to start out with thus first we produce the Hydrogen mainly from Natural Gas via SMR and WGSR process and then we combine that Hydrogen with Nitrogen in the Haber Bosch process to make the Ammonia so just another energy loss process in the middle in order to feed a low efficiency ICE.

I heard a Stat once that 3 percent of the world's power goes into producing liquid ammonia. Another thing to consider is solar makes power when few people need it. Some farms are disconnected around noon. There's nowhere to store the power. Diverting that production into ammonia liquidation seems like a good solution.

The size of the tanks is not only because they made them safer, it is about Hydrogen's much lower density in terms by volume. If gasoline and hydrogen are both in liquid form, for the same energy, hydrogen would need 6 times larger tanks than a gasoline.

Currently I cannot see how hydrogen could be as cost effective as petroleum or Electric. I did see an article that Japan was able to produce Hydrogen as a by product of their research into future nuclear energy production. Apart from that I think it will remain high priced for a long time if not forever.

Hydrogen still has the problem that it takes a lot of energy to compress it for storage and you even lose small amounts of it over time because it's atomically so small it's difficult to contain so big heavy tanks as well. We need to figure out a way to use water as the fuel source and split the hydrogen and oxygen and take in extra O2 from the atmosphere. Stan Meyers supposedly had done it...

@rogerphelps9939

Stan Metters was a fraud. Water is nott a fuel source. You have to use energy to split water to produce hydrogen. The process of turning the energy released by burning hydrogen into mechanical energy is only around 25% efficient. That is because of the laws of thermodynamics. This is why hydrogen is a dead end.

The key to the future is RE/nuclear Made fuels, but what fuel is best? H2 is NOT a valid fuel for 100s of reasons. Ethanol is the ideal fuel, not H2 or even Ammonia. Ethanol is 70% of the energy of gasoline, but none of the hazards and toxicity. Ethanol can be made into Gasoline, Diesel or JET by additional processes. Ethanol is the first step to making gasoline. New combustion tech will be 75% efficient with combined cycle and CO2 capture. Capture water and CO2 and recycle the CO2 back into fuel for 3 cents/kwh ($1/gallon gasoline equivalent, 70 cents/gal Ethanol). A 100% RE grid will be 60 cents/kwh at home and 90 to 120 cents/kwh ON grid. Off grid, fuel can be made for 3 cents/kwh, which is 20 times less than charging. KEY is on or off grid. OFF grid is key. No line charges OFF grid. If Electricity is 2 cents/kwh for solar/nuclear OFF grid, and line charge is 2.5 cents/kwh, the 33% to 50% loss in fuel making is made up by the line charge. It will always be cheaper to make fuel just because of the line charge once the electricity drops below the line charge and loss is 50% or less.

JCB has already started commercial production of their hydrogen ICE s in the UK and India. These engines are designed to slot into their proven earth moving machinery. The bottom half of the existing engine remains unchanged, while the top half has been adapted to hydrogen. The power output exactly duplicates the characteristics of the original diesel engines. JCB provides job site hydrogen refuelling with mobile tankers, continuing existing practice of on site diesel refuelling. Existing workplace practices continue unchanged when moving from diesel to hydrogen. There are number of excellent videos over the last 5 years showing the evolution of JCB from diesel to hydrogen. I suggest you take a look at the Alberta tar sands. Hydrogen is a dead end. The number of hydrogen refuelling stations is small and actually declining. Using green electricity to produce hydrogen to burn in an ICE is exremely dumb. The amount of energy lost between the electricity and the wheels will be sometthing like 90%. @rbhebron

..any internal combustion engine (ICE) is limited to the principles of thermodynamics.. they are limited to approx 20-22% efficiency.. plus the fact that 80% is wasted to heat.. any ICE is subject to gearing & transmission of torque in order to transfer power of the engine to the wheels.. while EVs are 90-95% efficiency which does not need any gearing to transmit the torque to the wheels.. this is why any EV sedan will beat any highly tuned ICE in any performance comparison.. it's soo sad that TOYOTA continues to assert that hydrogen is a future of car.. almost all hydrogen refilling stations in California have closed, due to lack of demand.. did you know that all of the hydrogen refilling stations can only refill max 50 cars per day..? so you'll need 1000 refilling stations just to refill just 50,000 cars.. plus the logistics to deliver hydrogen to the refilling stations.. this idea is really very awful... Instead of spending to develop ICE, TOYOTA shud focus their engineering to develop EVs.. TOYOTA is the only major car company that still does not have an EV strategy.. this means they will probably be the first to be extinct in the future..

Hydrogen combustion is an awful idea and requires 3x more energy than electricity.

Lol, good luck getting a hydrogen fill! This is not revolutionary the president of the American hydrogen association had a 100% hydrogen truck many years ago! Toyota hasn’t developed anything new. Do you know how expensive hydrogen is right now? I hardly doubt that they are going to be disruptive. This is years away and it’s already behind the times.

@@jezraeltorres-lebron8707I haven't watched the video but that seems somewhat impossible. It takes more energy to make hydrogen than the hydrogen itself will produce so you need something like a battery to do that on the go. Maybe a solar panel but for that wouldn't you want an electric car for better efficiency?

There are solution regarding hydrogen production

Why do you wanna beat it up know your needs more air into the flow of the hydrogen. Makes it 10 times more combustible. The problem is making it. I’m not talking about liquid hydrogen. That’s different like they use on the space shuttle that’s a different kind of hydrogen it has to be below a certain temperature way below.

Hydrogen will likely cost the motorist more than petroleum does. Plus the risk of a mushroom-cloud type explosion at any moment!
