Another thing to note on the Landcruiser 60 axles is that the axle shaft itself is the same as a HiLux/pickup, just a different length. So even though the 60 third member is 9.5", the axle shafts aren't any stronger than a HiLux. I'd recommend going straight to RCV's to save yourself hassle in the future.
Yes that's correct! The 80 series axle has the bigger CV's but poses it's other issues like steering and knuckle options. The 60 was a good choice for us due to ease of use and plentiful parts availability. And yes, if we keep the locker in the front when we re-gear then we will definitely go RCV's. I've gotta order some for the Yeti anyway 😅
You guys are after my own heart. I built a 3rd gen for the panam as well. I was going to build a chinook or a bigger toy motor home for more room as well. Now that covid stalled our trip. We have decided to build a ambulance for the trip mow. It’s in the shop getting 4x4 conversion ATM. Anyways great vids keep it up. Would love to get out wheeling with you guys. Im a Nanaimo guy as well. Cheers
I had a 1979 Toyota Enterprise with a 20r and this was the 21 foot version everything but a shower. It would do 50 pulling my 16 fiberglass boat up the mountain pass with all our gear. It was awesome. Tune it for upper rpm's. It impressed me.
