Hi, thanks for this useful video. I often use hold brake feature during slow or heavily jammed traffic. My question: does it affect the gear box in the long term if we use it very frequently?
Thanks for putting together the video. My 2022 Corolla has a manual 6 speed transmission. What if I am on a steep hill? My right foot cannot be on the brake and gas pedal simultaneously. With my older Corolla, I had a manual hand that I would gradually release as I applied the gas. What is the sequence of events with an electronic brake ( Which, incidentally, I do not like).
Whats the difference between the hold button and the parking button? I have watched both videos. Is it that the parking button is the handbrake? and the hold button is just like a hold?
Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to comment :) Yes, the parking button replaces the hand lever in many Toyota vehicles. It is now an electronic parking brake. The Hold button is more of a convenience feature to hold the vehicle in place while it is in the Drive position. Many of my guests use it when they are waiting for a train, in a drivethru, or in busy traffic so they do not have to keep their foot on the brake or put the vehicle in Park. Hope this helps!!
Does break hold works in reverse too?? I find my new toyota corolla in not going back although I release the brake..it only goes back after pressing gas..
Very helpfull videos. We bought a 2021 corolla. Is it also possible to have the hillhold function on stand-by every time you start the car. Or is it necessary to press the hold button every time you start the car?
The hold brake is not a default function, therefore will not be engaged upon starting the vehicle but only when the button is pressed/engaged while the vehicle has been on and driven.
When you the automatic brake hold switch is pressed and the driver steps onto the brake pedal to stop, then the system will retain the braking force and maintain the vehicle in a stopped state, even when the driver’s foot is removed from the pedal.
I hate the Hold button. The Hold button should have been placed on the dashboard where it couldn't accidentally be pressed. I have a Highlander the button is located next to the cup holder. On one occasion I had a child in the car who accidentally hit the button reaching for a drink. On another occasion my dog accidentally put her paw on the button while I was in the middle of an intersection waiting to complete a left turn. When I was ready to go, the car wuld not move.
