This is how I change a faulty cv joint on my Toyota Corolla Verso.

I wished you'd shown how you removed outer CV joint from axle :(

Yes, I'm sorry about that, the camera went out of battery. But I did took an angel grinder and cut open the cage as you can see here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-twyDgJTPmko.html You can then take the balls out and then remove the outer joint. There is no way to remove it any other ways as there is a locking ring on the outside of the axel.

@@Italjohn Ah, so it is that hard to remove it. I thought it was just mine because from other youtube videos, they can easily remove the outer by just hammering. Good thing I too have an angle grinder. Thank you.

@@TechiesUnofficial Usually you can use the hammering, but not on the Toyota. I try to do the same thing, but no luck. So I called my local Toyota dealer, and they told me it's impossible to do, so they just change the complete axel.

If you remove the bottom ball joint 3 bolts, will be easy to remove c.v.shaft on this model, don't worry about the hose and wiring.

Im gonna do it this way coz the shocks nuts dont wanna come loose and I dont have the powerbar with me, a friend came and loosen the cv nut for me this morning since I dont have a 32mm socket, I thought it were a 30mm like my Mazda Rustler 1300 that I used to have and my friend's VW Polo classic.

Great video. Does the star have to be cut off too to get to the circlip? Or the circlip sits outside of the star?

No, just the cage.

@@Italjohn the stupid star wont come off unless the circlip is removed , How did you manage to remove the circlip

@@amazighman2 when you have cut the cage and removed the balls, the outer part will fall off. Then you can access the circlip.

Someone just told that I need to cut the star also coz it covers the lock ring and now Im scared

So I got it off the way you did, I had some trouble with the locking ring because its kinda under the star but used a thin flat head screw driver and something els to get it out under. But I were so frustrated today when when I put the new one in that I ended up damaging the threads on the cv joint and now the nut wont go on 😓. I cant see any damages but it wont catch, Im just gonna buy a new one 😔

You can buy a "tread file" and try to fix the treads that way. I have done that many times.

@@Italjohn I bought a new one yesterday from autozone and installed it. I dont have a 32mm socket so I have to wait for the guy that loosen the old one to come tighten this one

how did you get the boot on the CV joint at 3:45? It looks like you had to take the joint off, then put the boot on first, then CV joint back on

Beyond my pay grade, will just go to the mechanic, too many things that can go wrong and at a vital part of the car, plus specialist tools required, not a job for the DIY homebmechanic
