Thanks for sharing your expertise. I purchased the 2019 Avalon Limited in Blizzard Pearl yesterday. My first Avalon was a '95 Demo, I traded it for a new 2000 Avalon XLS Blizzard Pearl that has 135,000 miles and still purring along. I'm thinking of gifting it to my granddaughter in a couple of months. In my 24 years of driving Avalons I have replaced an O2 sensor and a mass air flow sensor for the 2000. That's the only money I have spent on them other than regular maintenance, tires and batteries.
Thank you very much for making this video! I just purchased a 2015 CPO Avalon and totally lost when it comes to this entune. I am a senior citizen so I will probably have to watch this several times to get the hang of it. Thanks again!
You're very welcome! You are going to love the Avalon. I have had mine now for about a year and it is a great vehicle. Let me know if you have a specific question that was not answered and I will do what I can to explain it or link an additional video for you.
I appreciate your long tutorial. I own a 2017 Prius Three with the Premium Navigation System. It is the worst navigation system I have ever used. In most areas I drive for work it simply does not work, even though basic cell phone navigation systems work perfectly in the same areas. However, in order to use other apps, like messaging, or just hands free phone operation, the Entune system and app controls the smart phone. That means that when the navigation does not work (and the voice recognition system is even worse than the navigation system which does not work, for example, in the Pocono mountains, where I work) that the smart phone does not independently work, it takes extra unexpected steps to make voice recognition work and sound is only available if one chooses bluetooth as the sound source, which means no radio. But even then there is no sound from the phone without two unexpected touch screen steps. I almost smashed up doing that. This system is a big shiny waste of money and now I use it just for radio and use my smart phone independently as I did in my old car. I have changed my phone settings and made Toyota Prius a non-trusted device. I feel like a big sucker to have bought Toyota nonfunctional and dangerous technology because this navigation system is integrated into the total operation of the car. It is a bad joke.
Um that’s not the car’s fault that’s you. Even if you bought a Honda CR-V that has Apple car play and android auto you would still be arguing and complaining about the navigation system. Because even they don’t have the sharpest app suite. In fact Honda link is very unintuitive and graphics are a bit dated.
Thanks for the very informative video. I have a 2016 Camry XLE and learned a few things about it that I was unaware of. I also just subscribed to your channel. Thanks again!
Let's make it straight - I have five Toyotas at the moment ranging from 1991 to 2018, and I am truly convinced that nothing - even Honda - comes even close. Except stereo. My 2004 4Runner came with tape player. No shit! 2018 4Runner came with CD (not even DVD - CD!) player. Again, no shit. I don't use CD (or DVD for that matter) so I could live with this ridiculous dinosaur if the entire entune thing was not such a huge pile of crap. For starters, you can't really play audio files (USB in my case) longer than 60 minutes. After that, it keeps playing but the counter is totally confused. Second, if you shut the engine off, next time it's powered, it starts playing from a beginning of a random file. I drive long distances and listen to audio books, files can be hours long. So every time you start the engine, you not only have to browse to the file you were listening to (and to make your life even more miserable, the file names are not shown, some weird numbers are) AND rewind to the place your left off. And finally, what Toyota deems "FAST" forward is 16 times faster than playback. Do your own frickin' Math how long you need to keep pushing the damn button to get to the 3 hr location within the file. Solution? I through the damn thing out and installed a nice AM Pioneer for $150. To be fair, prior to throwing entune into garbage can, I tried to sell it on ebay. I figured that since the stealer wanted $4,100 (yes, FOUR THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED AMERICAN DOLLARS!) for POS, I should be able to sell it for a couple hundred to cover replacement. No such luck. Now, let me re-iterate - I do not regret buying a Toyota for a split second despite this awfully ridiculous artifact aka "entune infortainment center".
I have a Venza, 2013. Been watching a few RU-vid Vids and I am finding out I am getting very confused because every one is showing a diff system.. My screen looks diff from others as does each one from vid to vid ?? why is that? How do I find out what version mine is, can it be upgraded, ect...
Hi, this video is 4 years old now. Is there hope that Toyota will integrate car play or android auto to its older car models eg. 2016 models? You don't get that much value with entune in other countries, eg Google maps is universal unlike scout that works only in the US. They have Alexa now so it means they can update other apps in the entune system. If not, do you recommend changing the infotainment system completely?
Wouldn't this system make it easy for someone to track down someone else's location, such as an estranged husband trying to find his wife who is trying to get away from him? Can the car operator (female) turn the system off to prevent being found?
What is the setting that i have to use in order for my doors to lock when i get out of the car because currently it does not and it used to i think. I was into the settings and changed stuff and cannot figure out how to get it back to locking my doors automatically. I have to use the fob. Thanks again. Hope i am not bothering you with this.
I have subscribed to Traffic only with XM Radio, but I do not see the traffic alerts. What is not set right? I notice I do not see the red HD by the little cars like shown in the video. Is that the cause? If so, how do I turn it on?
This is great, it would be great if you could also have video for Scout GPS Link and how to identify if you have a supported entune - the multiple versions of entune are confusing. I tired multiple time to link scout to my 2016 SE Camry with Nav, to enable searching on my phone and using the screen for directions.
Great idea! I think I might have to do that soon. Keep an eye out. I will make sure that is something I do this month. In the mean time what operating system are you using?
When can we see a video on this ? I have entune premium but fail to install scout link, have tried many times, it just does not detect my car even if entune app is running in background and phone has 4G
I have a 2017 Toyota Camry. I have went through the voice tutorial several times and still she can't understand what I'm asking her to do. It's infuriating. In the three years that we have owned our Toyota I haven't seen nearly all of the screens that you showed us in this video. I'm sure that I'm not pushing the right buttons.
Hmm... Well I am not sure that is the case. If you do not have navigation on the system there is no download for it. The only system that has the "downloadable nav" is the 2016 and newer models with the integrated Scout GPS. I am really sorry for the misinformation from your source :(
Here is a simple general question that I've asked several times and can't get an answer. How do you setup multiple email accounts on the Message app? I have a 2017 Tacoma paired with a Galaxy S7 Android. No problem pairing the text messages and one email, but it won't list the 2nd email account. The manual implies this can be done with an illustration: "SMS EMAIL 1 EMAIL2", so I assume it can be done. I've tried placing both accounts into one phone app and on separate apps. Nothing works. BTW, my local dealer can't figure it out either. Can you help?
Klik, That is an incredible question and I wish I could say yes. However at this time it is not available. However I have seen some modifications that can be made to the system itself to broadcast your screen onto your display. This is new and I have not done a lot of research into it however. If you wanted more info on that let me know. If not, you will have to just use your phone and stream it through the Bluetooth system itself.
Thank you for the reply, it would be great Toyota allow personalized options. Spotify is my choice because I use it with my Run tracking app and don't want another app.
Here is the remedy I was able to find: "With the car running and with your lights on (put it into manual mode if during the day) press the SETUP button to the right of the nav screen and then press the DISPLAY button on the screen. If the DAY MODE option is selected toggle it off. The screen should go into NIGHT MODE. Now turn off you lights to see if the screen goes back into DAY MODE. If it works for turning your lights on manually it should work the same for AUTO mode which you can test by putting the lights back into auto mode."

I was told myLimited Edition Highlander (that I ordered and had to wait for delivery.....) was LOADED...had EVERYTHING.....including ApplePlay.....when it arrived and I went to pick it up....and paid more for it than any car I have ever owned....I was told they had “made a mistake” (this was after they tried the “Oh, you must have misunderstood!!!” BULLSHIT......) and my son was arriving for his first visit with his new wife and baby......in two days.....I accepted the Goddamned car believing there must ve some reasonable remedy or upgrade or......SOMETHING!!! I would even be willing to buy a new system and install it.....😢 PLEASE ADVISE!!! 🙀
If you have the 2020-2022 Highlander, you have Apple Car play, you have to plug the USB cable into the first driver side plug, in fro t of the cup holders, if you have a 2019 or lower year, you don’t have apple car play.
Whats a quick way to end a navigation destination? For instance I'm navigating to the mall but then decide to go back home, how do u stop the guidance?
How can you make that same navigation show only one panel (the navigation only) ? I've tried every thing I possibly could under every single setting but it always goes to 2 panel mode after 29 seconds or so .
If i use the easyseat option and adjust it so it does not go all the way back like is your preference because i am short......and put it in memory 1. Then does memory 2 button go back to the setting for driver 2 who wants it to go fully back?
Thanks...it did work. I have watched this over and over and would have been lost with out it. You have packed everything anybody needs to know in this video. Very clever.
SkiLLy, thank you for this video. You answered several of my questions on how to use this system, but I do have one more question. You mentioned downloading Google Maps from one's personal phone onto the navigation system. How do you do that?
i have a 2015 XLE camry, the bluethoot, USB, CD player, radio and screen has been blocked and sudenly it works... i could you please help me to find a solution for this?
Hi thank you for that video i really very instresting i install a 2016 audio with navigation on my 2011 toyota rav 4 it was workig fine like about 2 month now i can hear the GPS voice guyidence i check every stuff the voice guyidence on the it showing on but i can hear it
I have a 2016 Highlander. I can’t seem to get the navigation system to work properly. The word address is not highlighted So I can’t enter an address. Any solutions?!
Thanks so much, SkiLLy! I have what I thought is the Premium Navigation system (Toyota Corolla 2016S), but I can't find any way to adjust the screen touch sensitivity. I did see the specific setting you used, but the TOUCH SWITCH setting doesn't exist on my Entune system under General settings (or anywhere else that I can see). I would love to know whether it exists on my Toyota, and, if it's called something different, what it would be.
why does my 2017 toyota prius v Five navigation always looses signal from gps and cant ever really use the navigation because just using it one time on a decent size trip always screws it up and i have to re-calibrate it and that takes long so I never use it because that's annoying to do it every time each trip? really sucks cant ever use navigation.
I have the 2016 Highlander, and love it! Just got it, and everything is pretty self explanatory. However, I can't seem to get the Nav system to use my phone contacts addresses. I have the Entune system and sync my phone to it. I see my contacts on the screen, but that is only if I want to call them from the vehicle. I want to use the Nav system to perform a "Go to Steve's house"...and it looks up Steve's contact and adds that address to the destination. Thoughts?
How do you turn off the list of exits that keep popping up on the right-hand side of the screen during navigation? (I'm in full screen map mode, but it keeps popping back up anyway and it's driving me nuts)
I order to update the maps you will have to go to your nearest Toyota Service Center and they will do the update for you. It is through the dvd or the micro sad card depending on the model. Hope this helps!
can you tell me why the avalon hasn't change its design unlike the camry? the avalon hasn't changed for a few years now. recent change was just the front bumper. why is that?
Hey Skilly, there is one thing i have yet to figure out on this system. After entering an address for example say im going to a private residents and i have several other addresses as well how do you assign the names to the addresses saved?
I bought the car used, the previous owners address is in the nav system. I just paired my phone if I delete all personal data to get rid of his nav addresses will my phone stuff go as well?
my 2013 Highlander has recently stopped connecting to my smart phone. I really need the hands free phone. What can I do to get the phone connection to hold. Thank you for your Entune Discussion.
I would like to know what the on/off animation feature does in the settings I have turned it on and off and see no difference I know it's just above where you can upload your own images for the start up image and the screen off images.

The audiobook file reset would be extremely annoying, I agree. I'm not looking forward to that with our downloaded road trip reads next summer. For the record though, I find the CD player a fun bonus.
I really want to see a demonstration of how well the voice navigation setting work. I need it to be as easy as, "Hey Google, drive to Scott's Bowling Alley."
I agree. I have not had a good experience with using voice commands for the navigation in my Avalon. You need to speak the exact commands as the system requires. Google maps is way more forgiving, or should I say understanding. For that reason, I seldom use the navigation in the car and just use Google maps instead. My next car will have Android Auto and Apple car play. I rented a Fusion that had it and loved it.
I love the looks of the touring model that I want to go look at though everybody keeps telling me oh its no different looking then your 2015 xle an only the wheels look different but I think it has more options like the sunroof led lights as well the door trims that say avalon that light up
The light up feature is actually an option that you can get in any Avalon. They are the illuminated door sill addons. There are a few advantages in 2015. Some I stated in your other comment however you get Blind Spot Monitor and paddle shifters as well.
I'm sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Crazy week with the end of the month stuff. That is correct the 4Runner's do not have vehicle configuration options as of yet. It might be something they add to the newest generation however. Sorry for the inconvenience!
This is the absolute best tutorial I have ever watched. I bought the 2018 Avalon Limited Hybrid and must say the entune is a bit intimidating. You have simplified this for me and now, I'm ready to take it on. :) Thanks for the great video!
