Putting Track on the back tires connecting two to each other would definitely give you more grab especially in sand if you Extended the axles out so the axle could handle a duly type setup but still have two axles you would widen your footprint. It also would help if you had more of an aggressive tire Toyota needs to look at this page and build from it there are no Toyota pickups with two axle in rear double cab and an 8 foot bed on the market today in a Tundra or Tacoma style this is what I am looking for in a truck
My husband and I have a 6x6 Land Cruiser with a unique system in the rear axles that allows both axles to articulate in a way that on the type of slopes (as seen here) where all your weight and power goes to the second axle, it articulates enough to keep the weight distributed between both the second and third axles, and we never get hung up like that, ever... We had it built by a company in Dubai, and it beats the hell out of our heavily modded LC 80 Series 4x4 lol.. This Hiluc is a cool truck with great potential but this one performs like it has a lazy axle
Why would you want a Hilux? It is smaller than usual US pickups... And they don't come in V8 engines so i don't think you Americans call things like this a vehicle
***** We are not all Yabbos over here. A huge chunk of us in the states want smaller vehicles. But for some reason manufactures keep telling us, "You dont know what you want. We make cars and trucks BIGGER. Not smaller. So shut your trap and drive this. Because its what we tell you its you want." I would LOVE for us to get a rather large assortment of vehicles from over the pond. But its just not going to happen. Like the AWD ford focus. Europe is getting one, but we are told "You cant have this. Go buy a Subaru instead."
It would be more clear ( 6x4 or 6x6 ) if we had a look under the flat bed.... some parts of the video have left some doubts. Bud if it's not a 6x6 then it was better that the first rear axle was driven then the last one, the thing will get stuck on every dune or snow top. In that case the second rear axle is usefull to have more tire surfice on the ground or to carry more waith. I have an Iveco Daily pick-up with a second rear axle that's not driven but it increase the lengt and the posebilety to ad up the maximum loadrange. Leagely there are no technical problemes ( in the EU ) if you stay under the 750 kg upgrade, what in my case is a lot, originale I had only some 1200 kg left. ( crew cab type ) The Iveco is registered as a trailer puller, but the trailer is " fixed " on the truck, not moveble. The second rear axle is close to the first one. There are even higher load ranges till total truck/trailer 7500 kg but that's a matter for constuctors with a lot of money for the paperwork...... ( oa Click-Star )
Sgt C4 It really depends on who is doing it, sometimes that was the goal for me, just depended on where I was, the conditions, how many others were there and with me and my mood.
+josephmars20 That looks good. I am sure that a garage could change out the drivetrain and put in another drive axle so the truck can do what any grandma would expect it to do.
How you gonna make a 6x6 and not put lockers in the differentials to prevent you from looking silly on a sand hill... add some ARB Air lockers or even an OX locker so you can actually engage all 4 rear tires to turn together
Guys, reeelllaaaxxx. Stop nagging in your comments that it's not 6×6, whereas it freeking is 6x6. Hello ! The middle Axle kicks in when necessary... what era are you guys from?.... this's been around for decades.
The final END To any Hope a vehicle will ever again be pleasant to look at … this TREND WILL FINALLY GIVE HATERS OF THE AUTOMOBILE MORE REASON TO HATE IT!
I like how at 2:31 how the rear axle is spinning. Edit video get it unstuck. Drive it out like its a 6x6. Ha ha. Who makes the center axle? Haven't seen any that small before. Don't think it came off a Kenworth or Pete. I'd have to say it's a Bullshit 6x6! 4×4 w/ floater in the way.
Yes it is, there is a separate locker between the 2nd and 3rd axle which they don't have engaged for the whole video for some reason. You can see the difference between 2:30 and 2:37 with the car in the exact same position but in the later shot it just walks out of there after he engages the locker. There are also a couple of shots earlier in the video where all 4 rear wheels turn even when the 2nd axle is in the air.
