really impressed with the videography again. The shots, the editing. So improved this year. I've watched you from the beginning. You've improved in leaps and bounds. Well done.
Awesome trip. We were there this end of winter. The rivers were not crossable because they where thigh deep. Will go again to redeem those crossings. Good video mate.
I’m loving this series. On my Hilux I have an ARB rear bar that works really well and provides protection to the panels behind the rear wheels. One change I had to make was to install an angle exhaust tip, otherwise the exhaust would blow straight back onto the rear bar and on a long trip heat it up.
Ronni, up under the styleside tub runners, you can install magnetic L.E.D lights along both long sides of the tray (tail gate to cabin) tucked up and out of the way of any interference. The panels are folded and create a c type channel section hidden out of the way of interference and also weather.
My new Lux needed extra lights so I fitted a 27 inch HardKorr behind the grill. This is budget option for the time being, until I get the Bar fitted, but man what a difference to night driving it has made.
@@nelsoncook1899 I don’t see the year of the vehicle to relevant lots of people can afford a new car point being not need all the mods to get out there and yes it could be done in a older vehicle too👍👍
Ronny you have no idea how long i've been waiting for you to upload! And here you are, blessing us with an amazing 30minute offroading video with the luxy! thanks man also are you going to review any other cars? if so, consider a 200 and fortuner, thanksss
I have a 2020 SR5 and I went through watenr crossing up north....I had a good bow wave and no water got into the intake in the engine...it was not that deep. But...when I came out the other side I had lost my number plate, the plastic in the wheel arches had come undone at the front(only held in with plastic screws) and it went kind of into limp mode. I had snapped it into H4. I sat there panicking for a minute as I had just bought the bloody thing and I decided to let it idle for a bit. Now it is an auto and I did try reverse and drive and put it into manual gears and nothing. No warning lights came up at all....and eventually after I sat there and let it idle for a few minutes it just went straight into gear like nothing had happened, I took it straight into Toyota in Darwin and the ran diagnostics and found zilch. But they did fix up the plastic shit underneath....any ideas? I was also told that all engines are not supposed to me immersed in water, and I agree...and that snorkels are there to filters dust.
I love this truck. I'm so constantly annoyed by the continent I live on, when I'm looking for a truck. Toyota needs to just ship everything everywhere. I'm serious.
@@Ronny_Dahl Oh right on! Would you also say a justification for mounting it, be how often you use it? Just looking for a few pros and cons I haven't thought of. 😁 Thanks!
So many Rock Sliders Brands out there that claim to be the best and strongest. Struggling a little to choose which ones. Was looking at Lengendex Rock Sliders. Too much choice and marketing to sift through.
How can a diesel truck get 18L per 100? I had no more than 12L in my D22 Navara on 33's MT when cruising at up to 120km/h. Even in a petrol V8 LR4, I get 12-14L per 100 on the highway. 18L on a diesel truck is just ridiculous.
Ronnie, get yourself a dashmat and glue a piece of Velcro (the hook side) to the back of the UHF mic. The mic can then be placed anywhere on the dashmat while driving...works a treat.
Its also a Toyota Hilux, from prev vids where it was in shot and other social media posts, I can see that its basically a stock Hilux, pretty much at the same modification level as Ronny's Hilux now (stock plus AT tyres). Although I love this channel, been following since its inception and I am also from Perth, and love a nice modified 4wd myself, I often think about the action and adventure captured with their modded 70 Series LC's and all the fruit on them etc, but yet the camera crew drive around in a stock Hilux and go all the places they do, so while it's not as cool and doesn't attract the audience, do we really need all that extra stuff? I bet the camera crew Hilux costs less to maintain, less fuel, cruises better on the long hauls than their LC's, of course wouldn't do the harder tracks as easily but it obviously still makes it (maybe with some winch/snatch strap help perhaps) and gets the job done.
3rd Gen tacoma owner here and youre making me love the Hilux so much!! I want one so bad. Now i gotta consider a vacation to Austrilia and have some fun!
really like seeing how the two vehicles compare, stock vs all the mods....just shows you don't really need all the 2" lift and raw power, go light weight and think about driving line. keep the lux simple and see what it can do.
"This river crossing I know very well so I'm not gonna bother walking it, because it should be exactly the same as last time, no probs". Terrible advice.
Hey ronny not sure bout the new hilux but my 2017 hilux already had the front diff and the A.D.D breather extended just under the fuel filter. The transfer case and transmission breather were already extended just behind the engine near where the exhaust goes down under the car so might b the sams with the new models as well. Hope it helps
I know it is not an area you usually cover but it would be great to go to Jayco or one of the caravan makers and borrow a 3-ton van for the day to do a fuel consumption test between the Hilux and the cruiser. Also, a hill towing comparison.
I really like that Hilux, sadly not available here in the states. I do have the GMC Canyon 2.8 diesel and it seems very similar to your toyota in size and weight and power just not half as reliable as a Toyota. But I make due with what is available and really enjoy the vids and information you produce.
I'm really enjoying the series so far, I'm loving that Torban has more and more of a co host roll too! It would be interesting to compare the 2 vehicles on a weigh bridge. It would also be interesting to put the Hilux on the weigh bridge after every mod too.
The reason why toyotas outsell land rovers jeeps nissan and other suvs/utes world wide. They don't even have to talk about the reliability. The only issue sometimes is the capability of the driver. And they seem professional enough to work with what toyota gives them.
interested to hear your thoughts as to why 33's wont fit without a lift? the same work needs to be done to fit the tyres weather it's stock/lower/lifted. the wheel still travels the same amount 🤷♀️the only way to fit bigger tyres is to cut guards/ limit travel/ change wheel position (wheel alignment) lift has nothing to do with fitting tyres.
The truck is looking good! Love the color. You should take your hat off more Ronny! Like seeing you and Torbs without hats. Great video. We just did some amazing snow wheeling today. Lots of vehicles stuck. Snatching and winching! Had a blast. Cheers from Washington State USA. ❤️🐞
loving the episodes on the hilux, just boaught me a brand new sr Hilux dual cab and looking forward to making it a weapon over time, great information cheers.
Everything is crystal clear in this video, but I just have one question. How can you wear heavy hiking boots, long socks and long trousers in that climate?
I like that you're showing the truck's shortcomings instead of glossing over them. That's just as important to know. Also, were you using Fenrir's high beams? It looked like you had the regular low beams on when you were complaining about how dark it was.
@@Ronny_Dahl that's weird because that's what low beams look like here in the states. High beams here will light up everything, even stuff over the car's roof.
Great video, i dont know anywhere in the UK that you can do stuff like this so have to make do with watching you guys and trying to imagine what it must be like.
too much infomercial going on ronny...rather just say you testing kit....like your LR 2020 review. Things are feeling to sponsor heavy and loosing your personal touch which was cool for me anyway... a good balance can be met i reckon. anyway, bit of positive criticism. two thumbs up!
From my experience I would not add weight anywhere and think it is of some sort of benefit You are very wrong I’m surprised you still have not figured that out yet Just always run lower rear tyre pressures Lift and 33s with 2 inch body lift Engineer it No bar work aside from bullbar Yep No side steps No rear bar or that shiny thing 😂set it up right and you don’t need to make it fat It just touches nothing Ol mate in tanks have made 99% of tracks nice and wide
Toyota shakedown because it's not good only win 2 times in rally Dakar but it use not the stock original engine but 5 liters Lexus engine comprarision with the mitsubishi pajero only using 3.5 liters stock original engine but better very fast running than this Toyota with out burning or engine broke down
At 16:30 (or so) the Hilix was Jumping all over the place because the suspension isn't tuned for the weight -Running Below suspension design weight??- appears significantly under damped on rebound (yes Loading it up will probably change it a bit - but tuning the suspension properly will keep the wheels on the ground (But in reality - it is impossible to tune suspension for every condition without active damping...)
Not sure what to get a 2020 hilux sr5 or Ford ranger raptor....can anyone with experience offer some suggestions, issues, and comparisons between the both ??
hi The correct way in such a situation or entering the sand is to reduce the tire air to 8-12 air pressure, then the vehicle will move easily and without damage to the machine or gear (mechanical technician), and follow some expert methods in it and the necessary safety tools .
I'm enjoying watching this Hilux series. I have a stock 2019 Toyota Tacoma SR5 in Washington State. I'm new to off-roading and I like watching these types of videos to see what type of mods I should do to my truck so I can enjoy the great outdoors.
Torbs must be deaf after driving that cruiser around. That that would shit me to no end. Its louder them my old R series Mack at work. Tell him to get a decent exhaust.
