Here is a Slideshow of my amateur restoration that I carried out at home on my Toyota Land Cruiser LJ70 , the work was done around 2018 and I only have these photos but I think it turned out looking much better than when I bought the car so I wanted to share my DIY Restomod.

Very cool 😎 I would love to do a trip like that, I'm tempted to get another old 4x4 not sure what to go for, maybe another LC or a SWB Y61 Nissan Patrol but they are very hard to find in England for a reasonable price.

These old Toyota 4x4s are going to jump in price now that PewDiePie got given one in Japan.

What a job, congrats! I've got a 92 LJ73 in bad body condition. But it's so expensive to do a full restoration, that each day the rust eat it more and more. And I can't do it myself. So, I have to wait, but I won't sell it. Those 89 are good looking. Unfortunately the 2.4 engine like mine is very slow. But it stays a good machine.

Hi thanks 🙏 it was a beauty I sold it soon after restoration so it’s no longer mine as it wasn’t being used very often, everyone says they are slow but I didn’t mind it , I think it’s about right for the type of car 👍. Restorations are very expensive as they are time consuming so it’s good to try and learn how to fix and restore.

@@_jenks_ how much did you sell it for if you don't mind me asking
@_jenks_
@_jenks_ Год назад
Hi I sold it in 2017(ish) on a no reserve auction via eBay it sold for £8800 if I remember correctly which is a bit lower than I thought it would go for comparing it to the price of others in the same condition but I was happy and so was the new owner 👍

Hello , great work on this!! I have an 1987 LJ70 from Europe in the same color, just replaced the stock engine with a Cummins R2.8….was curious - where did you purchase that rear bumper from?
@_jenks_
@_jenks_ Год назад
Oh nice I think the look good in white and your engine is a good swap👌🏻 the rear bumper on mine is what came with the car 👍

Thanks 🙏 the wheels are 15" x 10" Tuff Torque Modular Steel Black ET-32 (plus I had a set of spacers installed I think they were 20mm all round) The tyres are 33/12.50/15 Nankang N-889 Mud Terrain 108Q I bought them brand new for £805 for a set of 5 that’s for wheels and tyres! I thought that was great value they were from www.4x4tyres.co.uk. ideally the car would have been lifted as the rear of the front wheel sometimes touched the body of the car at the rear of the front wheel well 👍

Excellent job, I imported one from Japan recently. Can I ask you how easy was to find parts for this vehicle in the UK? Also do you still have the original fender flares? Cheers
@_jenks_
@_jenks_ Год назад
Thank you , some parts were easy to find such as the brake calipers, wheels, rear wings but the front wings were not available so I bought some similar wings from eBay , new but no longer in production , and made them work. A few people have asked about the original plastic wheel arch extensions so they must be hard to find , mine were damaged and went in the bin !

Hi 👋 the panels were all brand new I can’t remember where I bought the rear panels they may have been from Toyota , the front panels were hard to find, luckily I found a pair for sale on eBay, after some time searching we settled for front panels from a slightly different model where the wings extend out further from the car. To make the new panels fit we cut off the top section of the front panels and welded the new bottom section to the existing top section keeping as close to the original shape as possible, the end result is almost perfect (+/- 1mm) to the original LJ70 shape, making it fit took some patience as we needed to cut the length of each front panel. You can see the cut at 05:16 and the weld at 06:01 this weld would have been avoided if we found the correct panels for this model , the front panels normally bolt on if I remember correctly. 👍
