Toyota Land Cruiser buyers guide J150 covering the Prado model or smaller Land Cruiser (than J200 and J300). Buyer’s guide for 4.0 V6 and 2.7 i4 petrol, or gas motor, and 2.8 diesel i4, and 3.0D4D). Are you trying to decide between a Range Rover or a Land Cruiser/Lexus GX460 for a car to enjoy on-road and off-road? Or maybe you've looked at the Larger J200 Land Cruiser, or J300 Land Cruiser and are not sure if the Prado will be big enough. Avoid buying the cheapest broken Land Cruiser J150 by following our guide on what to look out for. In our Land Cruiser Prado review and Lexus GX460 buyers guide, we advise how to avoid the mistake of buying a broken J150 Prado to fix as a project and it turning into a money pit by explaining common faults and common problems. This buyer’s guide covers the J150 Toyota Land Cruiser from years 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2014, 2015 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 in all trims from LC3, LC4, LC5, and GX, GXL, VX, Altitude and Kakadu other limited editions, as well as the Lexus GX460. Our used buyer’s guide will help you buy and find the right car for sale so that you can say you bought a Land Cruiser or Lexus GX460 that isn’t a project and instead is something you can enjoy from the test drive to your home.
The issues discussed in our buyer’s guide for the J150 Land Cruiser and Lexus GX460 include body positioning sensors, delaminating paint, and a recall of the GX460. Owners of the GX460 and Land Cruiser Prado may also find our guide useful.

At last a commentary that is both well researched and realistic. I rarely hear any commentator praise the 4.0 litre V6 Prado 150 engine. To my mind it’s by far the best and the extra fuel costs more than our weight the maintenance costs of the diesels - but of course I a m mostly a city user not off roading or taking very long distance highway journeys. If I was the 2020 2.8 litre diesel variant would be my choice. Thanks for confirming my experience with the Prado - but find me a 2017, 6 speed, Petrol Prado in AUS - they are like hens teeth!

Nice! Do 100 and 200 too. I had a '09 200 until recently, kind of regret selling it, it served our family well.

Excellent history lesson. Here in the 🇺🇸 it is the GX460 and we only get the V8. Wish we had the 2.7L for better mpgs. The GX460/Prado are offroading tanks!

Thanks and yes we were surprised they didn't even offer the 4.0-litre V6 in the U.S either 👍

@@themilesdriven I think the 4runner hers the 4.0 V6 here... next gen GX turbos should get good mpgs 😃

I own the 2.7l here in Africa and it surprisingly has worse gas mileage compared to the 4.0l due to its underpowered nature, so the car engine struggles to haul the bulkiness around especially in uphill driving conditions

@@tevintyronne2385 really? I recently ordered a V6 and it will arrive in 3 months here in the Philippines. I hope the v6 will serve me well

In the Philippines we have the 4.0 V6 and the 2.8L diesel. They cost 64k usd and 78k usd respectively. Our tax is high. The GX 460 is also available here for 104k usd.

Would be interesting to know if people choose the diesel or the V6 when they are given the choice 😁

should i buy a 2018 prado tx with over 500000km on it also loved the video man

A Prado can do that mileage but even the toughToyota will need to have had a solid service history and remember these are still heavy cars, so remember to check the suspension and see if it has a history of replacement parts 👍

I envy you guys in RHD markets. When you import a car from Japan the steering wheel is on the correct side.😂

Why not any commenting on the 4.6L V8?
@themilesdriven
@themilesdriven Месяц назад
It's my error, I used to pull in engine data and reporting from the chassis designation, but as the frame is shared for the Prado and GX this method can miss engines only sold on one variant, the 4.6 only fitted to the GX460, I've changed the way I pull engine data for newer videos. If it helps the 4.6 is generally a strong unit, but the key problems are usually around leaks (coolant) or premature failure of the gaskets and seals, this can lead to engine issues but the engines are robust enough to run with leaks for quite a while meaning most get fixed as a minor issue before they cause bigger problems 👍

You did not include Gulf spec prados particularly the 5LE engine

That is correct, but that engine is underpowered and has lower torque numbers. I already think Prado is underpowered especially 2.7 petrol available in our market, 5LE seems even more anemic.

I advice you go with the 1gr-fe 4.0l v6 engine than the 2TR-FE which is a 2.7l 4 cylinder gasoline since they have similar fuel economy at 25mpg and you can get even better with the v6 But the better acceleration of the v6 gives a thrilling experience overall so the v6 is a no brainer But still if you think the v6 fuel economy isn't at all impressive I'd advise you to get the 1GD-FTV 2.8l diesel but i strictly discourage you to get the 2.7l petrol please dont

@@themilesdriven yea used to own the prado j120 tx which was a v6 then upgraded to a j150 tx but got the 2.7l instead of the v6, i found out that the v6 was called j150 tz though it had been discontinued so i had to trade in the 150 tx for the tz which i have no regrets at all.

What's wrong with the 2.7 i4???

Whats particular with the 2.7 i4 petrol, apart from the 'under powered' feel? I own one here in middle east.
