Hello and Welcome to The Car Care Nut Remix Channel! In this video a Toyota Mechanic works on a Nissan Pathfinder.
In the premier video of my brand new channel we'll be inspecting this 2019 Nissan Pathfinder. Look at some problems and potential problems.
We'll take a quick peek inside of it to see how they look then a look underneath it.
Towards the end we'll resolve the reason why the car came in which is the brakes that are grinding.

Had a 97 pathfinder go to 400k km and my current 02 pathfinder over 300k. Nissan used to be great, the pathfinder always had an identity crysis, but the wd21 and the r50 pathfinder generations were fantastic offroad and very reliable, r51 had clearance issues but was still reliable

I originally came across your channel when I was looking for information about the Toyota Corolla hybrid. there are not enough words to express you my gratitude for all that you have done to fill the channel with tons of useful information and fruits of invaluable experience. I don't have a car, but for several years I worked as a mechanic in an enterprise and I'm interested in your approach in a thorough explanation of all aspects of the problem, a logical, consistent approach. Watching your videos is fun and exciting. I think the new format will also be a success! thank you and good luck!

HUGE fan of Nissan VQ-series engines. Owned a 6 cylinder 2007 Nissan Altima (with CVT). Bought new. Sold it with 155,000 miles. Outside of the typical oil, tires, brakes, the car operated flawlessly. No problems with the CVT. Great acceleration. Comfortable seats. Best HVAC system I've ever had in a car. Currently own a 2012 Pathfinder, bought with 140,000 miles. So far, so good. Pathfinder gets about 15 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway, but that is to be expected from a 2012 body on frame SUV. All that being typed, I am meticulous about maintenance and I don't race from traffic light to traffic light.

That's my favorite generation of the Pathfinder. Should last you a long time. 2012 is probably the best year with all the issues ironed out. I have an 08 with 184k. Enjoy it. Minus the gas mileage. I sure don't.

I am just started watching this and can not wait for you to find problems of all kinds, I had a Nissan Maxima and over the years most everything broke down from brakes to windows to fuel injectors injectors to the blower fan and transmission and with everything broken it would not be a simple repair, on brakes the rotors needed to be replaced as well as the pads every 40k miles or so, I have a Highlander with 62k miles now it is 12 years old and it has been trouble free still on the original brakes as well.

Thanks for your content on both channels. I really appreciate your expertise and value the opinion of someone who knows from experience & training what they're talking about. I presume most of the content on this Remix channel will be at home, so maybe you can spend more time on the diagnosis, repair and confirmation process. For example, "This car has such & such a code.....here's how I diagnose it, fix it, and confirm that the repair was successful". It would be especially valuable if you could do such things from the DIYer perspective without the fancy dealer-level equipment.

great idea to have a side channel for non-Toyota stuff, we can always use more contents from great and honest mechanics like you! I do have a 2015 Nissan Altima, and yes the transmission gives me chills every time I drive it, no problems yet but I can hear the unusual noises from the CVT and it's NOWHERE NEAR as smooth as the Corolla's old-school 4-speed automatic. Actually, the pathfinder switched between unibody and body on frame. The first gen was based on the hard body, so it was body on frame. 2nd gen was unibody but it retained the solid rear axle. Third gen was based on the frontier, also body on frame. When the 4th gen was designed they needed something to replace the poorly selling Quest minivan, so they moved the pathfinder back to unibody. The 5th gen looks like a truck based SUV, but it's still unibody.

I'm loving your new remix channel hope to see a lot more content. if course I follow your main channel and thank you! I'm huge into camping and sleeping inside my vehicle. There is a huge van life and camping market I think you could do well with if you include more content towards small cargo vans and such. Anyways, I run my vehicles all night for 8 hours while parked to get AC and heat on average 2 times per week. I typically keep my vehicles for 5-7 years and sell them after I drive them about 150k miles. That said, here are a few questions I'd be very thankful if you could offer some of your amazing experience: 1. I'm considering purchasing a small compact cargo van. I'm considering a 2019 and newer Nissan NV200 or a 2019 and newer Ford Transit Connect. Although I'm a loyal Toyota and Honda fan, my options are very limited and these small cargo vans are great for my needs despite their reliability is so poor. I plan on bringing any vehicle I find to you to be inspected and maintained. Do you feel both are poor considerations and which of the 2 have a more reliable engine and transmission? 2. I'd love to purchase a 2021+ Toyota Sienna however the price is way too much for Sienna's and their ground clearance is too low. I've found many people lift these vans for light offroading in they use Journey Off-road lift kits. Does lifting this van cause a reduction in reliability? Many like myself have this question about lifting a sienna as there are no other AWD van options out there. 3. Are there any maintenance tips you'd suggest for people like me that run their vehicles overnight while camping for AC or heat other than the traditional vehicle maintenance? 4. Would idling a vehicle overnight for AC or heat be better or worse mechanically on a hybrid vs non-hybrid vehicle? Which would offer better reliability given that type of use? Much appreciated!!

I am planning on trading it in to downsize to a midsize truck since I no longer need the high tow rating. My only small complaint so far is the bad gas mileage. I'm only getting 17MPG in winter. I had a 2013 Nissan Altima with 2.5 L and CVT. Dealer-serviced. I never had any problems with the CVT (or engine for that matter). However, it was in the shop twice per year for recalls (there were several in the 8 years we owned it). Although ours had low-ish miles on it when we sold it, my theory on this car is that people who ignored the recalls had problems with engine/CVT. Simple as that.

I had a 2017 Pathfinder Platinum 4WD for about 3 years. I had the AC compressor replaced under warranty. By the time mileage reached 40k, the AC wasn’t blowing any air from the vents. Eventually, it started working normally. I also didn’t like how the CVT operated . Even though I had extended warranty, I didn’t feel that the quality, like Toyota, was enough for me to keep long term.
